my only qualm is that the late 2013 bubble is the one i have the least faith in. people were buying coins because they couldn't get cash out of MtGox any other way.

If they were all buying coins to get cash out of MtGox they would have immediately dumped them on another exchange and banked the money. More of them must have continued holding than were selling otherwise the price wouldn't have bubbled.

this is exactly what happened , it's what I did too !!

after the "small" bubble @230 USD I cashed out and decided I would withdaw some USD from Gox but I couldn't, I only managed to withdraw my initial investment  and then delays delays delays.
So what I did next was to buy back and move to bitstamp, which was what others did too, the price was skyrocketing, so I thought "Why sell ?"

i'm not saying they wanted "fiat" cash, but just that people were seriously dubious about gox's solvency and wanted to get out of it. and the run for the exits involved buying bitcoin with cash inside the (then) dominant exchange. this is funnily enough a description of china.

with bitcoin it's always a run for the exits. just as andreas has started saying lately.

check  bitcoinaverage.com  you can see the whole price history as well as volume
keep in mind that the volume is in BTC and not in USD (fiat) , a rough calculation will show that USD volume  (or fiat in general) is actually quite high and only Oct-Dec 2013 USD volume is higher than now
cool site

It's been my go-to since the Finex hack.

Not only does it have the most accurate price averaging over the most exchanges, weighted by volumes while excluding zero-fee exchange volumes, it's also used as the base price reference for most BTC ATMs here.

It represents real-world pricing better than any individual exchange and does so in the most currencies.

I have had that site open for 3 years straight. But I gotta say I liked the old version better.

Just bought $4k worth of coins from coinbase.

Will have them on the 3rd.

Hopefully the price will get up to $1200 by then, and not sink.

$254.90 on Stamp. The bears are out in force by the looks of it, I'm feeling pretty negative at the moment, still going to HODL as usual obviously, I understand bitcoin is a long term investment but this XT bull shit with Hearn & Gavin is causing the price to tank imo. Weak hands are panicking & getting out Sad

This price dip is nothing compared to the crash that would happen sometime next year when Core Dev allows the 1MB to cripple legitimate user tx throughput.

Wonderful prediction by the BU , Classic and XT crowd. 6+ months of "full blocks" and the price has been steadily appreciating and no "tx fee death spiral"

I gotta say I liked the old version better.

Me too. It was far less cluttered and required fewer clicks to get the view I wanted.

"You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,"

All I know is bitcoin experiences great pumps and spectacular dumps. I would be surprised if this was not the case this time.

I can picture all those who held coins from the epic pump of 2013 waiting for ROI. Fingers resting on triggers.

All it takes is for some of the big boys to pull triggers and all hell breaks loose.

Sorry to put a damper on the Holiday joy but we need to be realistic. We are on thin ice.

Hope I'm wrong and bitcoin keeps surging ahead.

fomo affects holders just as much as short term buyers and sellers. if you'd been sitting for three years to make bank then you're gonna be a hardened believer by now.

Too bad that thread seems locked. At this time it's become very relevant again.

At today's price his coins are worth over $820kCAD, more than twice what he paid for them.

I seem to recall he posted within the last year or so that he didn't falter when the price tanked and continued to hold tight.

Not bad for someone in his mid-20s. Good job kid. Hodl FTW.

I sure as fuck hope there will be a huge dump. I haven't bought back any of what I have sold yet, and low prices are better for my business in terms of btc earnings.

But there won't.

And what's with the empty space at the end of your post anyway? Deleting that shit, it's stupid.
