Wall Observer A free service brought to you by the bitcoin communityWhenever there is a significant change in market depth, please update this thread with a new depth chart, and a good price chart with some TA is also welcome, feel free to comment on these if you have something to worth contributing, ( if your post is not at all TA it will be deleted ) Posting guild lines: Please lets keep this thread clean. ( I will be removing any off topic posts ) Do not post random comments on this thread, unless it is directly related to the last wall update (ex. The 20K ask was was NOT sold into, it was removed after being tested) When you post a chart please use bitcoincharts.com, mtgoxlive.com, btccharts.com or bitcoinity.com
as requested, i have started a new thread. this thread is now a self-moderated topic. I will try and keep this thread clean, with only facts, current trends, past price movements, depth charts, etc. I promise to not delete post simply because i do not agree with the bearish TA. thank you for your input! We needed more regulation around this bitch.
the rules of this thread is an attempt to keep this thread from having +1000 post when price is doing big moves, and instead relay important indicators during critical moments. also when the market is more calm we can expect to see wall posts and TA price charts, back to back without any relevant chatting, making easier to analyze. there are other threads where speculators can discuss their sentiment, just not here... That 1000+ page thread was getting kinda useless.
thats fine too, I'm looking for quality charts or good TA bearish or bullish. asking good questions example.... Interesting pattern I've noticed. It's been sort of bouncing downwards for the last 4 days. Is there a technical term for this sort of thing? is also welcome here. just don't be posting about your "FEELINGS" and you won't get delete. ^love you bro ~ come back and say high!!! :-D weeeeee ATH!!!!!!

I am sorry to spoil the party but... s we are approaching all time high, the transaction fees are spiking as well ! https://bitcoinfees.info/We have now just broken through 50 cents per tx for the 3 blocks fee ! The network is bloated and reacts to the bloat by an increase of transaction prices to try to limit the increase in transactions. That's NOT a good thing folks Market doesn't give a shit.... Bitcoin's value right now doesn't come from it being used for shopping. Go fork off with the BU clowns or use fucking Monero to buy your coffee

what's currently the "official" ATH?
$1163 ? (Bitstamp 2013) bitstamp ATH $1163 bitfinex ATH $1175 Gox ATH $1242 Everyone says the Gox ATH was manipulated, but at the highest price it's a big psychological barrier. I'll be happy if it takes another week to go above the bitstamp ATH. I expected more of a battle to get over $1100. The GOX price was in GOXbux that were not trading at par with the USD so any rational analysis of ATH in GOX prices needs to take that into account. The OTC market in GOXbux got more and more active around the time of the ATH and eventual bankruptcy/blow-up. People were even trading whole GOX accounts for months before that also. Up to 9 months before the ATH GOX fiat withdrawls were having 'problems', i.e. slow, so when the pyramid scheme finally exhausted greater fools there were no USD to be had for withdrawl at all, only GOXbux. How to price a USD ATH in those circumstances is really just a fool's errand. I think all these different ATH numbers are great because it shows what lemmings all the traders are ... they are lost without some psychological number to pin their charts (and bets) upon. The diffuse ATH situation is leaving a clear run (bumpy not spiky) to >$1200 now methinks.

So I guess these Bitcoins are still a thing. That's good. I actually had somebody say almost exactly that in a bar recently. I was wearing a BTC baseball cap and someone asked if it was a Boston Bruins cap. When I said no it's Bitcoin, he asked, "Oh, are Bitcoins still a thing?". He seemed surprised when I told him they'd been worth over a thousand dollars each for a couple of months now. Most people still don't have a clue. When you tell them about it, it either goes in one ear and out the other, or they forget almost immediately.

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/1.2 Million BTC in motion, $1.35 billion worth. 112k transactions 64.5MB, will take 10.75 hours to clear assuming now new transactions (good luck with that) The market could easily overheat here if people can't move their coins to the exchanges to cool it off.

The network is bloated and reacts to the bloat by an increase of transaction prices to try to limit the increase in transactions. That's NOT a good thing folks The sooner the network is weaned off block subsidy rewards and becomes self-sufficient the better. OTOH, it's not ideal that greedy, pushy miners are accepting out-of-band bribes from Roger Ver and imposing bottlenecks on protocol advancement (segwit) and tps (Lightning). Of course in the grand scheme of things this drama just builds out Bitcoin's antifragility. If we need to change PoW because the miner tail is wagging the blockchain dog, so be it. The miners are just security guards. They are well paid, but may be fired and replaced if they try to take over system governance, contrive artificial scarcity, and vote themselves salary increases or other self-serving changes (eg 25BTC/block reward forever).

On the other hand, a higher transaction fee (which is actually not that high) does make people think twice before moving small amounts to exchanges in order to dump them. If you consider Bitcoin a store of value, I think its working quite well.
For smaller amounts or buying your cup of coffee, use Monero as suggested by Dafar.
