We're about to push through the ATH across all exchanges and Yahoo publishes this:

https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/the-biggest-bitcoin-crashes-in-the-last-10-years-120942554.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=tw

Not only is typical of financial media but what really irks me is this paragraph heading

"Bitcoin value is volatile"

Note of course instead the volatility compared to upside risk. As written by Reggie Middleton regarding Credit Suisse bitcoin v oil analysis:

"volatility is not the enemy. The enemy is downside risk. When you strip out upside movements, which is what we all really want, Bitcoin only has .15x more downside risk than oil. Wait! I'm not finished yet. Remember, we need to look at both sides of the risk/reward equation. When comparing the upside, BTC has 203x the average excess return of WTI crude oil. To be clear, .15x more downside risk, and 203x more upside."

But in the end, this ignorance and inability to present something honestly is the reason bitcoin flies under the radar and we are all a part of it.

Wow, that article is utter nonsense. A history of crashes between $1 and $1100 ...?

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/

1.2 Million BTC in motion, $1.35 billion worth.
112k transactions
64.5MB, will take 10.75 hours to clear assuming now new transactions (good luck with that)

The market could easily overheat here if people can't move their coins to the exchanges to cool it off.

But transactions per second is at 4, which is within BTC's ability. I see the 60mb figure, but how are they conflicting? (Yeah, I don't get this)
Thanks in advance for an explanation.

BTW - Kind of funny that bitcoins limitations can slow a move down...

7tps is with minimum size transactions.  In practice the average transaction is much larger.  Also, the rate has exceeded 4tps for periods in the past couple days.

Bitstamp fomoing? 1155USD!
Looks like the old ATH can be crashed today already with a bit more of steam.
Kraken also close to create another new ATH.
Exciting day so far.
But I'm not sure about the actual situation.Look at the weekly chart and that massive green candle we see at the moment. There will be some correction coming imo.

this will seem a bit of a downer to many but didn't willybot create the ATH along with many real people jumping in. Since the price finished around $250 after the party then the moment we went past about $400 to me seems we set the new ATH.

the question we should be all asking is what % of the current price do we think is manipulation by a few insiders with large holding or easy access to cash to buy. (A far more agile creature than willy).
I put it about 80% ie at any time i think the price could suddenly be about $300. Never the less I buy slowly at the going price knowing that over time the price will be $5000+ and even if it drops then my buying today at 1155 is ok.

buy and hold and repeat

We are approaching all-time high prices and bitcoin is not even mainstream yet. Imagine the future exchange rates.

If there is a crash incoming, you wouldn't be asking about it here because you will witness it among all of us.

So don't worry and enjoy the show Smiley

Bitcoin is BROKEN!!! SELLLL!1!"

That's true, but because of the blocksize stalemate ;P . That's why I think the current price upswing will not last very long if there is no "politic" change. We can go to $1500 or even $2000 and then crash really hard in front of 1 million ... unconfirmed transactions.

For the moment, I'm thinking about this scenario (Bitstamp prices):

- $1160/63 for now will hold (still much resistance)
- little downswing to $1140
- the second third intent will win and go above the old ATH.
