no point sweating it. either it happens or it don't. and if it doesn't happen this time, you can bet your ass they'll keep on trying until something passes. i think if it's a no it'll be down to bitcoin itself being not ready. some day it will be. you can tell by the big names attending meetings that it's still up in the air. if it was a definite no they wouldn't be wasting their own or anyone else's time.

Nothing changes....
Moon, rocket, 10K, this is gentleman etc etc
Then.....
Dump dump.
There is nothing new to see here. We all knew this was coming and if you didn't you are delusional.
It won't affect the long term upwards trajectory
I doubt we get past $1500. $10k is another ball game. Not this time, and not in the long time ahead.

i didn't expect it to be where it is now so soon, and especially with so little hype or drama. that means there's a bunch more hysteria that can be stoked. i kinda hope it doesn't happen but there's a chance it might. $1500 is possible if the rest of the world gets excited. So what is China doing now! the chinese market is not being permitted to function properly. it's essentially irrelevant. i hope it stays that way too.

Btw., I was also doubting we get through $1k and now to $1163 that easily, but we made it. So technical indicators screaming overbought is one thing, and what market is able to do is the other.

It only takes a trillion USD market cap for $50k bitcoin. There is a total of ~$25 trillion in USA IRA's. Is it that hard to imagine global speculative bubbles that touch but do not sustain $1 trillion market cap by 2025? 2020? 0.1% of USA IRA funds ($25 billion) into the ETF bring us over $2500/BTC, and that is ignoring speculative buying by people in the trenches (us!).

you're forgetting how meaningless market cap is compared to real money. 25 billion real dollars put into bitcoin would push the price far beyond $2500. right now you could probably reach that price on the exchanges by spending 50-100 million dollars in one shot. and if sellers sniffed out that there was a buyer with money to burn they'd go on strike and push the price up even further.

Of course. With that in mind, I wonder if certain markets have some unique elasticity (normalized by current market cap) that tells you how a market responds to $$$ influx

Look who shows up the day after Bitcoin makes a new ATH! Also, a couple months ago he offered-- unsolicited-- to sell me his moderation account on rbtc so that I could use it to clean things up.
That would have been a very bizarre way of "cleaning [your reputation] up"... a couple months ago he contacted me lamenting the lies and personal attacks on Reddit, it just didn't sound like me.
So I asked him if he was the original account owner. He insisted that I was and that he was insulted[...]
I could not fail to notice the bizarre typos -- "me" and "I" instead of "him" and "he". As if... Thank goodness he invested so much time and effort protecting his fellow Brazilians from the dangers of Bitcoin! Come on Stolfi, tell us how much you didn't lose 'cuz you didn't buy at the peak in 2013! Cherry pick some prices to make your arguments look as good as they possibly can. I guess cherry picking exchange rates to fit your narrative can bite you in the ass?

i for one sleep better at night knowing he's typing 50-150,000 high faluting words of concern trolling every single day of his life. it means my chances of meeting him in real life are very low.

Does anyone know how the COIN ETF shares would enter the market? Is it basically just the Winklevoss twins that start of with all the shares who can then sell however much they want at whatever price and time they want?

They will just sell it through genesis and watch the money roll in. Did somebody mention rick rolled? Just kidding. Was about to post this great meme: A little theme and variation \(`0´)/ But then see the gloom for the $30 loss and the party is over. The moon train has come to grinding halt. So very sad!

Good question, I've been wondering the same thing along the lines of will the ETF offer shares in coins that the Winkies already own (not affecting the market) or will new coins be bought up quickly according to demand (cue market)?
