$2000 is just a benchmark ~eZ^$$$==$4000 new target

You're setting your sights far too low.

$4000, like $2000, will be just another point along the way once this really gets rolling.

Slowly but surely the world is starting to learn about Bitcoin.

Not long ago it was rare to meet people who had even heard about it. Now it's not as rare but the vast majority still haven't got a clue.

When I wear my BTC logo baseball cap, most people still think it's a Boston Bruins cap, but recognition is becoming slightly more frequent and some people stop me who actually know about Bitcoin, its uses, and how it works.

It's a slow process and we're still a long way from the s-curve of adoption going vertical. When that happens, watch out.

We ain't seen nothin' yet.

OMG while I was typing this we had another leg up. Fasten your seat belts.

Stamp and Finex are with the same price now, or almost. Looks like people are afraid to buy above $2000, or has the withdraws already been restored?

I have some overpriced stuff too. Won't make the calculations so I won't feel depressed.

Bitcoin has never been illegal in Australia, taxation has been unknown and vague, but never illegal.

<- Aussie who has been in bitcoin since 2011

Edit: We are a pretty conservative bunch as well, there is never going to be a million of us with bitcoin anytime soon. I've been telling friends about bitcoin for 6 years, talking about the stupid amounts of money I've been making, not one has bought any themselves yet.

in 2013, i moved, and in need of money, sold ten BTC to my brother for 1000. this was pre-bubble, so a fair price.

when we hit 1500, i called him and made sure he hadn't lost the password and such, as i was feeling sick at the thought of knowing he "lost" 15,000 bucks. i just... try and not think about it now. obviously, i'm failing that last part.

Same exact thing happened to me... But now I have some friends that ask me to give them some BTC, and I just laugh in their faces.

I second that question. I have checked the news pages, Bitfinex' website and their Twitter account but haven't found any recent news, only that they today started supporting Ripple (XRP). Maybe people are using BTC/XRP and then XRP/USD on another exchange/gateway to get out their funds? But that wouldn't make much sense because they already have other altcoins on board.

They have a news item from last week (May 12) however that they're processing large withdrawals with another system. Maybe these withdrawals are starting to go through.

Maybe the strange FinexBTC/BTC parity really is only related to the resistance of the $2000 mark.

Some countries may be distanced from crypto money under the name of money laundering. If you live in Australia, you can see the same treatment, but for example Japan has accepted it.
