[...] a 2mb hardfork seems pretty unlikely to take place in the coming couple of years [...]

Really? No.

2mb is feasible, but still a hard bargain / trade-off. It is just an easy lazy solution! Smiley ... They should wake the f*ck up and put their hands on a shovel and create new better fiber optics infrastructure at a global scale.

a little quote worth reading :

I'm not entirely sure why, perhaps this makes me a dick for saying this, but I hope Bitcoin Cash fails horribly. Wasn't Satoshi's original vision for bitcoin to have only 1MB for the block size? I'm not saying that he is correct with this stance, but I don't think it is cool that they use Satoshi's name like that to market themselves when it isn't his "original vision" like they say it is.

"We the people will breath new life into bitcoin"?? What is this? Most of us people don't want a fork, right?

Like so many you have been misinformed by those who wish to see bitcoin fail. The reality is the opposite of what you have been told, beware of the intense level of propaganda that prevails.

Satoshi's original design called for blocks to grow. The 1Mb limitation is currently imposed by a small and voiceful faction of the community who call themselves 'Core Developers' who don't want bitcoin to scale so they can implement an additional layer with their own technology on top of bitcoin.

So for all intents and purposes Bitcoin Cash is closest to Satoshi's vision.

Having said that, it doesn't mean the fork is a good idea. There is a community consensus to implement segwit on Aug 1st and then increase block sizes in November and this is what should be followed.

I agree with this post.

with segwit you add another layer of potential problems. when a simple modification to a 10mb block would have solved the issue temporary before raising to 100mb.

So why shall I have confidence in adding another layer to bitcoin? I am better using pivx for example where there will no problem or question about scaling the block size once the transaction capacity is reached (actually 70tps)...

it's pathetic. How do you plan to make money with segwit? Is there a way to host a second layer node and make some sats?

+1
Some people here get it - Yes it is far better to (free) scale on-chain, say 8MB or 10MB and let it work for some years. This is Satoshi.

How much years this would give us ?  about 3-5 or more  ?

On the other side you give Moores law a chance (also in Satoshi's vision), and let it work for us - next level technology = free.

Far far better mates!

SW is clearly over-engineering and keeps lots of defs away and the HF Monster needs to play the FUD role.

SW allows better 2nd layer engineering - but in terms of energy and resources this is just wasted and dilutes bitcoins absolutely strongest Satoshi security.

Btw how to profit from segwit? setup a node a get some fees? that simple?

That will be the Lightning Network. You'll have to have bitcoins to feed the channel.

I like your enthusiasm and where this is going!!! Cheesy Cheesy ... ROFL!!!  Cheesy  Cheesy

*edit: FYI ... just the last 4 names on that list have a chance of winning! Cheesy Cheesy

*edit(2):  explanation is required... So.. :  "There is always a time loop!" Cheesy  Cheesy  ... Basically a new ATH will be after the ATH ... and if 2 people guessed the ATH because it grew in 2 consecutive days... Who has the right answer?? They both have the right answer! Smiley

Bad day to try new trading strategy  Undecided

I'm just there looking at my 2653 long order, have absolutely no idea what to do with it °°

After margin call, take the remaining 40% and convert to physical silver immediately then wait for $10,000 gold revaluation and 15:1 silver peg ($600).  The world's 2nd most criminal bank JP Morgan is acting as an agent of the US govt to naked short the paper market while taking delivery of physical.

Do not go longterm gold ROach (10-20 years), when the age of space mining starts gold and some other precious metals will be worthless.

I dont tell this to trash you, this is just a tip. You rather want to go longterm Bitcoin.

So it's really a scam. I feed the chanel btc (what's the minimum to hold to have a node) and get a fee in return. What's the expected ROI?

No. I mean, 6 feet under. No biological function. Cold to the touch.

Maggot food.

That's not very nice. All he needs is a few months of intense breastfeeding and he'll be right as rain again. Let's send him to an isle of wet nurses and welcome him back at the appropriate time.

Yep. One big scam, everyone's going to get so screwed. lol

If person A is opening a channel to person C and you are in the middle, person B you need to cover the amount that they are transferring back and forth. The person in the middle can charge whatever percent they want, but once there is a large network of providers the cheapest route will be used.

Person A is basically "sending" you bitcoins and you're "sending" bitcoins back to them, you are "sending" bitcoins to person C and they're "sending" bitcoins back to you. Now Person A can send to Person C as many times as they want and Person C can send to Person A as many times as they want. The transactions are "recorded" by you and settled at any time or at the end of the lock-in period.

Depending upon how much they want to open the channel for, you need to have enough bitcoins to cover both sides. So twice the size of the channel.

Many people will be opening free channels at first though I imagine...to become trusted channels so they can charge down the line.

I don't think I'm winning micro's ATH game.

I told you... 4 AUG.

There's no way the ATH is broken before 1 AUG has passed away. Also we needed some little correction after the recent surge from the lows of $1900-.

Relax guys, even ViaBTC is now saying that they intend to adhere to the Segwit2x agreement:

https://www.bitcoin.com/public-service-announcement

As suspected, it was just a game theory move (a ridiculous one though) to exercise some pressure to "guarantee" the second part of the agreement (2x blocksize).

I don't even think the drop has been due to this... it's just a minor correction before propeling to new highs early August.

Are you kidding? They propped this BCC altcoin up for one purpose. As the 2X date approaches, they are going to have loads of fun switching their hashrate back and forth from Bitcoin to BCC blockchain, in an attempt to strong arm the core developers/community and FUD the shit out of the market and cause massive amounts of hysteria, fear and price volatility.

Mark my words. Roger and Jihan will be cackling with glee the whole time.
