Worst of all is the ENVIRONMENTAL damage caused by the chemical spills from all mining including gold where mercury is used.  Most mining industries have tight standards in developed countries but the pollution left behind trapped in pits and lakes eventually fail and flow into the rivers and aquifers.  The damage is appalling!  In third world countries even children are exposed to mercury in the processes of gold extraction.

Who here hasn't played with mercury as a child?

Yes, we all have casually played with mercury.
Of course this goes beyond casual contact.

Got some at work to buy bitcoin in the dip before futures. ceo also knows about it but his finacial adviser told him against it.

Most of them bough btc and ltc at the same time

"Financial adviser". A Keep-you-poor adviser is more like it.

I had a tax accountant/ financial adviser once. When he found out that I had invested majorly into Bitcoin in 2013, he told me that I was a fool and the minute it went up even a little that I should sell it all.

I was so irritated with his bad attitude, that I immediately dumped him and started doing my own taxes.

If I had taken his advice, I wouldn't be where I am today looking at early retirement. Not even close.

I love these little dips trying to shake out the weak hands.  They're having less and less effect each time.  Manipulators, take note: everyone's holding. Nobody wants to sell. Understand?

The only way is up  Grin

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-has-less-environmental-impact-than-fiat-currencies
Quote
The report indicates that the annual consumption of power from Bitcoin mining is 8.27 terawatt-hours per year, and the global production of fiat currencies stands at 11 terawatt-hours per year.
Gold mining burns a staggering 132 terawatt-hours per year.

Mercury is more of a third-world problem, while cyanide affects even first-world countries.

Ok so sometimes in life you need to hold your hands up and say! I was wrong, my predictions were way off and just not very good at predicting the price.  Looks like the bullish mood and the global hype is a lot stronger than i thought.

The meme and word "HODL" came from a misspelling of "hold" posted in a whiskey fueled rant four years ago this month in 2013 on BitcoinTalk. Sellers were panic selling as the market crashed from $900 to $700. HODL was good advice.

They also got caught in BTC-E....   They are still active in the Moneron community.

He mentioned that he had the equivalent of 2000-3000 BTC worth of Monero during the September 2016 rally, so I think he's doing alright unless he totally screwed up.

Did futures killed bitcoin volatility?
C'mon bitcoin.... do something, I'm bored

From here I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Bitcoin move sideways for a couple months, with constant pumps up and dumps down inside a sideways channel.

Without a lot additional supply, the futures traders know that this market will go nowhere. So they are going to keep shaking the tree and see what falls out.

My bet: nothing will. And eventually they will get weary and just go long.

Yeps my thought also. The only thing that worries me, more and longer than the casino boys, is what will happen with theter and finex.
