ok well that was interesting
what i took away from all this is

you should go easy on regulating bitcoin because bitcoin is  100% bit and 100% coin

Nah, because its a technology in its infancy, so don't kill it before it's fully grown.

NY is going to be a bitch on BTC, because some big banker on Wall Street is paying these guys stock options.

imagin if just 1 major bankstar of the Wall Street would heavily invest in Bitcoin. Wouldn't the chart explode?

After all that - the price went down...?

Ho hum...  All the fud about arrests and stuff 'on the eve of the hearing' and then it was just... normal, vaguely informed - and boring.  Then the price goes down.

can somebody explain to me what the woman on the right of mr. Lee is talking about? Gold back uped system? Is this a alternativ system beside bitcoin that she is talking about?

It seemed like she had no idea what she was talking about, and almost everything about the system sounded flawed.

Yes, she was there to represent a new/incoming gold backed and centrally controlled digital currency.
I didn't catch the name.... not interested but she did contribute some valid points to the wider discussion

i wish your family all the best.

(just think about it: they will grow up in a world where cryptocurrencies are as normal as tv or cars were for us.)

The whole of the public notice on what we saw today and will see more of tmr:

SUPERINTENDENT LAWSKY ISSUES NOTICE OF INTENT TO HOLD PUBLIC
HEARING REGARDING VIRTUAL CURRENCIES ON JANUARY 28 AND 29 IN
NEW YORK CITY

Benjamin M. Lawsky, Superintendent of Financial Services, today issued a notice that the New
York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) will hold a public hearing on the
regulation of virtual currencies on January 28 and 29 in New York City.

In August 2013, NYDFS announced that it had launched an inquiry into the appropriate
regulatory guidelines for virtual currencies. As part of an ongoing fact-finding effort informing
that inquiry, NYDFS subsequently announced its intention to hold a public hearing on this issue,
including the potential NYDFS issuance of a ‘BitLicense’ specific to virtual currencies.

The hearing is open to the press and public, however, space is limited. Members of the media
and public interested in attending the hearing should RSVP no later than January 27 at 2:00
PM to Caitlin.Ferrell@dfs.ny.gov.

Additional details on the hearing, including witness lists and the timing of specific panels, will
be announced in the near future. The witnesses providing testimony at the hearing are expected
to include a broad cross-section of industry participants, investors, academics, and other
individuals involved in the virtual currency industry.

Logistical Details

Time: Tuesday, January 28 (Expected Start Time: 10:00 AM)
Wednesday, January 29 (Expected Start Time: 10:00 AM)

Location: 90 Church Street
4th Floor Board Room
New York, NY

BitLicense. That's what it's all about. And that's where we're going. Buy time.

Does anyone have a fucking clue wtf these women are talking about?

where is the cute asian girl from the foundation, I need something to watch.
I kind of like what Annie Wilkes suggested. She said the government should just have the public sign-off that they are aware of the nature and risks of crypto-currencies and leave it at that.

The problem though with women, is that when you involve them in anything they take that as validation that they know what they are talking about and start spouting-off all sorts of firm but nonsensical positions and ideas.

That's because for women, feelings determine reality and not the other way around.

Overstock guy will be more dynamic tomorrow, someone posted a radio show he did and he sounded a big advocate - he doesn't like banks, and he likes BTC.

he is well known for being strongly libertarian. im glad i bought so much random crap from him the other day:)

Yep - not sure I am totally in line with him politically, but he acquitted himself extremely well, a good speaker - if maybe a little right wing of Genghis Khan Wink

But hey - I can bore everyone about HODLING now, can't I.
