Guys remember there was that shitcoin Well people are still falling for it so beware Am I a chump that I always saw Kevin Pham as some sort of contrarian Don Quixote who tilted against the windmills of the big banks, then shitcoins? Eccentric, yes... but a reliable identifier of scams. Then suddenly his weird pivot to falling in with faketoshi and the Bodog slimeball sort of took me by surprise. I mean LTC scammy? Certainly good arguments for that have been made, but BSV takes it to a whole new dimension. How does he not see that unless it is just about $$$? (Cue smugness from jbreher in 3... 2... )

(Cue smugness from jbreher in 3... 2... ) Don't know why he pivoted, can hardly believe it. He's very attention-hungry/self-obsessed so he'll fit in over there. He did good work before, but his latest arguments are deluded.

You all are really a bit obsessed with your roach toyboy, aren't you?
No. Actually most of us (try to!) ignore him. For us this thread is only 47 pages long too.

There's a wishful thinking conspiracy theory out there that he's a secret agent of core, sent on a secret mission to bolster BSV, in order to destroy/weaken BCH.

Theymos quit being a coward,
You reinstated Lauda, and you remain silent.
Man up and admit she does unspeakable deeds for you.
Damn, I'm found out. While personally training Lauda in the dark arts of forum moderation, we fell deeply in love. I couldn't bear to see her endure the torture of trust drama while doing unspeakable deeds for me, so I invented this complicated algorithm as an excuse to add her back in even though I could've just unilaterally added her to DT at any second. Truly, my cowardice knows no bounds.

Lauda shouldn’t be anywhere near it, based on well publicised ‘allegations’ Agree 100%. Also philipma1957 has fallen off and he's the only decent guy left. Madness. But respect for theymos for tryna get something moving.. edit: ok maybe trust a couple more guys than that

I have spent many months nude in the wilderness cawing at eagles and communing with ancient sages in hilltop monasteries in an attempt to understand the default trust system.
I still do not. And care even less.

I care as much about that trust thing as I do about the merit system. Which I use sorta like a "like" buttom and it made me hero and stuff, but other than that is just a feature of the forum which is even more meaningless to me than a %1 volatility of Bitcoin which is what I really care about.

Welp those are the changes to how ratings are ascertained. But I have never learnt what the Default Trust system is supposed to rate. Anyone care to ELI5? Is this for OTC trading?

Post new feedback | Trust settings
Risked BTC amount is money that the person could have stolen or did steal. For example, if you do a currency trade where the other person sends first, your feedback for them would have 0 risked BTC and their feedback for you would have risked BTC equal to the BTC value of the trade. Yup in theory for feedback in trading: currencies;hardware;collectibles etc people who renege on eg auction promises, or who build scamcoins eg ethereum, or who post phishing links nowadays it's just as often a dick-measuring contest the default part was for newbies who couldn't know who to trust; they could rely on say some big well-known guy like philipma1957's opinion that suchandsuch mining supplier wouldn't rip them off

It seems to largely be for cultivating grudges and oneupmanship.

Back in the day when escrow was king...a trust system was sort of handy to have. Today these OTC channels are quite strongly developed imo. Suppose it might be useful for some. ---------- The flip-flop report Some observer effects have been noted and I am now concerned that this "consolidation" period could turn into a correction downwards.
