Gold vs Bitcoin  Smiley

Source: @JournalDuToken

Those charts might line up, but fundamentally, the comparison seems really dumb.

Gold is many thousands of years old and bitcoin is just 10 years old.

Bitcoin is likely in an s-curve exponential adoption phase, and if anything gold might be losing some of its steam, and even if gold is not losing it's steam because folks are attempting to rethink ways to use gold or to use it in digitally backed ways, gold is much more of a mature market as compared with bitcoin... so just because their charts match up during a certain juxtaposed time period, seem like a kind of coincidence more than anything.

Weird coincidence yesterday. After I saw this chart nd went out I was at the gas station and a car drove up and some chick said in broken English that she was from Dubai and wanted to trade her gold ring for gas. I told her I don't buy gold. Cheesy

I didn't even look at the ring she was holding out, have no clue if it was real or not.

Wanna be safe then build and underground bunker and hide.

Have you seen the film with John Goodman - 10 Cloverfield Lane

I’d love to build something like that one day.

Nope, watching the trailer now.

Goodman played a good roll @that movie

Who knows these days?  You have to be an expert to figure that out, or take the ring to the pawn shop and see how much they will give you for it.  Problem is that if you pay her for the ring, then she is gone by the time you find out from the pawn shop that they are not going to give you anything for it.

Bought another 0.2 or so. I think I'll be able to get a more substantial chunk within a couple of months, so I just hope the price stays in this area a little longer.

Yeah, right.  We are just going to hang around here for a couple more months in order that you can buy another .2BTC.  ok....

Too bad that they don't have BTC call options that I am aware of.  Then d_eddie could buy an option to buy at this price (or a little higher) for the next two months.
No options that I know of either.

And JJG, that wouldn't be 0.2 or I wouldn't have bothered to poke you into a retort ;-)

I really like Goodman, he really plays some great rolls. His character in The Gambler was the only thing worth watching in that movie. Smiley

True, not to mention I don't even have a clue nor care what gold is at anyway.

My guess is she was for real. She had a kid on her lap and her husband driving a brand new vehicle. But it could have been a rental.

Doesn't matter, I don't buy Gold!

If I had my laptop with me I would have told her to send me some BTC or XMR. Cheesy

https://www.popville.com/2017/07/beware-the-im-from-dubai-and-need-gas-money-scam/

Also:

Quote
A "heads up" for you all who may be regular Home Depot
customers.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam
while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned
out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't
happen to you.
Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 18 or 19-year-old girls
come over to your car
as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They
both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their
breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible
not to
look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say
"No" and instead ask
you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and
they get in the back seat. On the way, they start having sex with each
other.
Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and
performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen October 4th, 9th, 10th, twice
on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 28th, three times just yesterday, and very
likely again this upcoming weekend as soon as I can buy some more
wallets.

Again - beware!!

Thank you.

You're right. A little bit of thought and most ppl realise.

That sort of thing has been going on forever , nearly always highway/motorway service stations (watches, designer clothes, luxury items, all with a story, either fake or not what they seem). There must be a few who fall for it to keep the scammers going.

I was thinking today about how cheap is to hodl Bitcoin. I mean, with almost any asset you incur in "hodling" costs: Stocks, Real Estate, funds, etc...

That is hodling costs independent on how it performs negative or positive. Something that forces you to more actively manage those assets or those hodling costs will year after year take a big dent on your principal.

Even physical PM's require space which has some cost.

Even virtual things, like domain names... I have several premium domain names that don't need nor want to sell yet. Some date back to twenty years ago or even more. Every passing year incurs in a cost, not much yeah, but after twenty years it adds up. And also require attention to make sure I don't lose them because of billing problems or someone trying to transfer (hijack) them away from me.

With Bitcoin you just "store" it virtually and forget about it. Hodling cost=ZERO.

Just saying.

Just make sure you don't lose it. If you're "storing" it anywhere, it can get "stolen" ... depending on where and how you store it.

Yeah, but that can be considered just "safety" precautions which all other assets also have. Real costs/maintenance: NONE.
