Trump is a living embodiment of the Dunning-Kruger effect. If his incompetence actually causes more eyes on crypto then that would be hilarious.

He said Bitcoin is based on "thin air." This is a proven lie bc 14 intelligence agencies have incontrovertibly shown with science that its based on lambos, memes, and pics of hot chicks climbing walls.

OK, that was kinda funny.

But Bitcoin's value -- as with that of any monetary instrument -- is based upon nothing but faith. Faith that it will be accepted by another. As such 'thin air', while being a possible stretch, is not altogether false.

Unclear why your panties are in a bunch. What exactly would you expect POTUS to say about Bitcoin?

Please dont assume that since you might prefer womens underwear(i dunno but it seems on your brain at atm Wink) that others are of the same ilk. Jk w u buddy, we are cool.

But seriously... Im unclear why you are so stumped as to why I take Trumptards comments as derogatory against Bitcoin. To say it is based on thin air is false bc as you said it is backed by faith.

Faith is much more powerful than thin air. Faith has caused empires to fall, reserve currencies to go to zero as others take their place, large chunks of ethnic groups to be wiped off the planet, masses of innocents to be tortured, porn to remain the most searched internet term of all time etc. I can think of little on this planet more powerful and influential than the beliefs(faith) of its human inhabitants. To dismiss it as just a nothing backed by nothing is the greatest lie and Trump has done just that.

Perhaps you have been overseas for so long as to muddle your boots on the ground perspective. In conversations with Americans in America, there seems to be very little correlation between the 'Bitcoiner vs nocoiner' axis and the 'Trump lover vs Trump hater' axis.

In a tangential development...

My in-flight reading lately had been 'Life After Google' by George Gilder. While not his most significant work, it is certainly his most timely. Gilder -- should you be unfamiliar with him -- is one of the world's foremost prognosticators of near-future technology and
its subsequent effects upon society.

Recommended, but that's not my point.

The always-probing Peter Robinson interviews Gilder in this interview. Fortuitously pushed at me by Google's (ostensibly doomed) recommendation engine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cidZRD3NzHg

Again, recommended.

Anyone need kidney?  Roll Eyes

"There are no excuses to be a nocoiner.

The biggest-ticket organ you can legally sell in the U.S. is your heart: They're going for a cool $1 million. Livers come in second, worth about $557,000 and kidneys fetch about $262,000 each.

That's like 200 BTC right there.

In this case, negative press or publicity ... well, it's almost always been the case that main stream media puts bitcoin and other crypto in a negative light. Been that way since Silk Road, even though that's been gone for a long time now.

I'd like to ask other thread members here a question.  I've been in bitcoin since early 2013, and through all those run-ups followed by 75%+ crashes I've held my bitcoin.  But after the 2013 runup/crash, and long wait afterwards, I don't want to be holding most of my bitcoin on the next market peak.

I have seen various multi-year log charts showing a high and low line, and a line in the middle.  Sometimes these lines are drawn straight, sometimes curved with it flattenng  out more as time goes by.   On one there was a website witn a mathematical calculation telling you what the 'fair market value' of bitcoin was on any given day.  I have seen these posts in this wall observer thread over the years.

if any of you have links for this, can you post in this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5164354.0 ?

thanks

Holy shit, Trump just tweeted a bunch of hater shit about Bitcoin and Crypto in general. Time to get this asswipe out of office. I used to like some of his actions, but fuck him and his USD shitcoin!

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1149472285905940480

"I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity....

....Similarly, Facebook Libra’s “virtual currency” will have little standing or dependability. If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations, just like other Banks, both National...

...and International. We have only one real currency in the USA, and it is stronger than ever, both dependable and reliable. It is by far the most dominant currency anywhere in the World, and it will always stay that way. It is called the United States Dollar!"

And the Oscar goes to...

Seems to me that you have to find your own price points, rather than going by charts that are made by other people.

So, you should figure out how much BTC that you would like to sell at various price points in order to make you feel more comfortable.

You can choose your price points in terms of amounts and/or in terms of time, so you could decide to sell a certain amount of BTC at certain price points, and also to sell a certain amount after a certain passage of time... and each of those should specifically be tailored to your circumstances that includes but not necessarily limited to your cash flow, your other investments, your views of bitcoin, your risk tolerance, your timeline and how much time and skills you have to manage your portfolio.
