Yup, wish I was a forward thinking at 13 as you were, I started when it was still projected as being cool and the Marlboro Man was on every channel. thants not an excuse, just a fact.
Smoking has given me untold pleasure over the years and the biggest downgrade to my general well being has been quitting it. I have been diminished in every sense by stopping, apart from stinking less. Now I'm too mean to take it up again. HAH, I've had friends throw smokes at me while I was quitting saying "Just fucking smoke one already" as I drove them nuts while Iwas withdrawing. Yeah it can turn you mean just as quickly as chronic pain can. It does take stress away though.

God, I hate cigarettes and the addicts madly puffing their fix like it’s their last and stinking up the entrance into public buildings. Disgusting smelly addiction. Go do heroin in private, ffs, it’s a better buzz and it doesn’t stink. End of rant....
I may have quit smoking cigarettes 35 years ago but I'll defend the rights of others to smoke if they want to. I hate anti-smoking Nazis. If you want to smoke, smoke. If you don't want to smoke, don't smoke. If you own a bar or restaurant, you should be free to allow smoking or not. The public should be free to choose whether they want to patronize smoking or non-smoking establishments. When we still had optional smoking or non-smoking rooms in restaurants in Toronto, I always chose the smoking room despite not smoking. I could see it pissed off some of the smokers that I was taking up a valuable seat in the smoking room while the non-smoking room was almost empty. I just found that besides for having no children in the smoking section, there was a better class of people there. All the fussbudgets and complainer types used the non-smoking section. Don't give me some silly crap about secondhand smoke if you drive a car or burn a campfire. One of my pet peeves is people who smoked for years, quit, and then somehow magically became instantly "allergic" to cigarette smoke. I quit so everyone else has to quit too. Oh boo hoo hoo! Personally, I find perfumes, colognes, aftershaves and other artificial scents to be far worse, but I won't interfere with people who wear them. I appreciate that most hospitals ban them and I'll avoid places that sell them. Smoke or don't smoke. No big deal.

You don't have to quit. Just don't start again.
It can be a serious bitch: I haven't smoked for 20+ years, and I still find myself missing a good pipe.

Yeah, nothing worse than a reformed nazi.
I find it amusing that most reformed alcoholics think everyone else is an alcoholic that needs saying. Pepole don't understand that not everyone has their same weaknesses.
I fucking hate those people that cross the street when they see you have a cigarette, as if being within 10 ft of one will give you cancer. those are the fucks that make laws to ostracize others.

I have a friend who gave up her heroin and cocaine addictions years ago. In the process she also stopped drinking and smoking cannabis. Now she tut-tuts anyone who gets high or relaxes with a drink while preaching the gospel of "clean and sober". Only problem is that she smokes 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day and does enough benzodiazepines every day to put most people into a coma. Go figure.

( I know that last post makes me sound like one, lol) 95% of my growing up friends were heavy smokers. Both my parents and both my brothers were nicotine addicts...aka smokers. Yup I’ve smoked many packs worth of butts without ever lighting up myself. What I find annoying about smokers is 1. They are litterbugs, and 2. the post stale butt stink that emenates from a smoker. I’ve long since fixed that issue as I don’t hang out with smokers any more.(easy now that most folks have quit the filthy habit) Except when I have no choice, like as I mentioned walking into a public building and inconsiderate smokers deem it ok to form a noxious cloud by the entrance. Like is it really that hard to light up at or in your car before you decide to walk here and light up where all the foot traffic bottlenecks? I mean I don’t willfully fart in public and subject everyone downwind to subtle hints of fecal matter.....

Please don't take offense. My rant against anti-smoking nazis wasn't aimed at you personally. I'm a little surprised you are as bothered by the smell of smoke as you are, considering you grew up with it. I often wondered if my tolerance for the smell came from the fact that my father was a chain-smoker, most of my girlfriends were smokers, and I played music in smoky barrooms for years. Like I said, I can handle the smell of smoke (and farts) easier than perfume.

No offense taken bro. Perfume annoys me too if the wearer smells like they been marinating in it... which is more often than not at my work when some office lady strolls through...
I think me being bothered by smoke now as opposed to years ago when I like you, grew up with it, is the fact that I’m not subjected to it anymore so on the rare occasion when I do get a whiff, its like amplified in a bad way and puts a hurt on my nose. Sort of like not smelling the cat stink in my house because I’m around it everyday. When I walk into my house after a 2 week absence I’m like “wow this house reeks of cat piss!”

Just found out Ross Ulbricht has been publishing a TA series on medium dot com, "Bitcoin by Ross" The latest is a real splash of cold water. There is no limit to how low it can go (except $0) because wave I started at $0. And there is no hard limit to how long it could take. However, corrections will often end in the price range of the previous fourth wave of one less degree. That was wave ④ from back in 2014. Its price range was $175–$1,240.https://medium.com/@RossUlbricht/bitcoin-by-ross-9-a-strong-signal-for-lower-prices-87d2cdcdba95

My late wife was an alcoholic so I learned a lot about it, went to several AA meetings with her, etc. I will never be with an alcoholic again and I finally understand the ANON philosophy of just leaving them behind. As a test with anyone new I meet, I buy a full case, bottle or whichever when they stay over. I give them every option to continue drinking as much as they want. If they can stop before it's all gone...they're likely not an alcoholic. Someone at an AA meeting once told a story, they were talking to a friend who said they bought a six pack, had a few beers then went to sleep. The whole room unanimously had in their mind "what about the rest of the beer?". To have 2 beers then stop is not something an alcoholic tends to do. They 'can' do it...but likely will not happen.

Everyone of them are chain smokers and probably most have a benzo/ Xanax addiction be it doctor prescribed or not. It’s a joke really....

That's a good angle. He might be working on a possible clemency angle and to show how much bitcoin really does suck a large bag of dicks.... and I have my doubts if it is going to help him. I suppose; never say never... and surely I am not suggesting that either his being locked up or his sentence is just. Seems like a lot of injustices there, both objectively and relatively speaking.

And coffee. Going to those meetings it was so obvious that people still did not get it. They had no control over their own body's urges. They just replaced alcohol with coffee and cigarettes (among other things). One person mentioned that most alcoholics are actually addicted to drama so they like to stir things up in their own way without using alcohol to do it.
