BTW what has happened to V8? Not seen him around for a while?

he is doing fine. no worries.

He should at least cancel his merit app thread. A bunch of people went to bat for him (self included) and it feels a bit silly.

I cashed it in for £2,500 during one of its peaks, and had a great holiday in Iceland - the cash came in handy, Iceland is lovely but expensive."
And now I can book a flight and hotel for 2 nights in Iceland for like $500. Might just do it in Q3 because I am bored.

... because I am bored.

I have taken boredom to a fine art, and now I'm not bored anymore. I know, weird concept, but it works for me.

Of course DCA works..

it is a solid technique.. and maybe it is not looking like it works for fucktwats who waited until the past few months to get in, but if you had DCA'ed in to bitcoin over the past 2-3 or more years, you would be sitting pretty god-damned pretty at this point.

Bitcoin is not going to reward peeps who are short-sighted and gambling as well as the DCA'ers and the HODLers.. (which includes stat stackers).

Oh.. yeah and for sure, none of us have been suggesting any one sized fits all strategy because DCA surely works, but it also supplements both front-loading and over-investing... which are both great strategies as well, in moderation of course.

Ok, I agree,  DCA works and in fact it's worked very well as my history documents here in WO,  just trolling the growing FOMO sentiment Wink couldn't help myself lol Wink  Grin  You have credit in part for introductory to a DCA strategy and education here, cheers!  Never did fancy that ladder approach stuff though  Roll Eyes
Conviction is the secret key to BTC success coupled with being a level headed actor. Easy, not easy right?

replying, but highlighting the funny passage in the prior (@JJG) response..Saylor and Musk both qualify as fucktwats by that definition, I had a nice laugh.
My take:
1. If you have a large or medium cash pile available, don't listen and don't wait, maybe divide in two-three chunks, but DON'T do DCA with whatever you decided to invest. This is kind of crazy thing to do with the current price dynamics. Why? How do you know when it would jump again...and again?
If Saylor was DCAing , I am calculating that his average purchase would be about 23K and they would have 30% less btc and would have $1bil less in value of that btc right now.
He was already buying the second chunk at almost twice the price of the first one (~11K first, ~22K second, 16K average). Second part was done using the borrowed money, which explains the delay.

2. if you are investing a small portion of your cash flow, it's a whole different story, DCA is natural for that, but don't expect to have a large appreciation in the immediate future. It might still come years down the road.

EDIT: not an investment advice, just an opinion for entertainment purposes  Grin.

Puts it into perspective. Maybe I should cancel the used VW I'm waiting for. I think the insurance would be prohibitive though.

Some of these guys got the game all wrong.

I borrowed $10K at 0% interest to live on/pay expenses this year, instead of selling btc when it was @~7k.

Don't have to pay it back until May 2021.

Now btc is ~$15k.

#winningbigly

Borrow cheap credit to live, let your bitcoin ride. This is what the wealthy elite do.

Just an update on this.

Observing current btc price of ~$47k.

Can't wait to see what the price is when I have to sell to pay this $10k loan back in May July. *I thought May, it's actually July

Just a sobering reminder, lest we get too over-exuberant...

(I was actually hoping to get one of the Wile-e-coyote ones but they have sadly all expired).

We will most definitely be over exuberant...  no doubt about that.  And we will also get to feel those drops.  Certainly Bitcoin is gonna have to hit all these institutional noobs with some of it's famous volatility before it just levels out in the stratosphere?

I think it's that endorphins thing...
Once you had too much of em, you get bored out afterwards.

EDIT: Almost everything i touch breaks, falls to the ground or goes wrong in some way today.
I better chain myself to the bed and watch some Simpsons episodes.
Have some good pumps tonight!

I mentioned the 50/50 hedge awhile ago, and I think I read about it elsewhere.

1. You're not sure if you buy 100% all at once, what if the price goes down?
2. You're not sure if you DCA and it goes up, you could have gained more buying all at once.

So, to alleviate which pains your more, or pains you less, the thought of missing out or the though you could get more, then the logical thing to do is hedge half: buy with half of what you have, and then buy DCA with the other half. That way, you only feel half the pain. And if the price is stable the whole time you were DCA'ing, then there is no pain at all either way.

I don't think Saylor qualifies as a fucktwat, he only recently rediscovered bitcoin, not counting his first mention of it in 2013. Musk maybe a fucktwat, as he's been tweeting for years, then decides to buy in January 2021.

Plus if it drops like a mofo, you have money to buy the dip.

If you believe the Bitcoin will always recover sooner or later (which it always has eventually but don't expect me to underwrite that for you), it's a no-brainer.

About a possible scenario, I can say that if bitcoin sees $ 50k, it can take a lot of damage in hard falls, altcoins. So the longer he gets stuck at these levels, the better.  Cheesy
