It sucks that all the money seems to still flow into alts. Look at Binance coin. Yesterday I thought it will crash after that pump. Today it gained another 50%. I feel like everybody is getting rich while I wait for bitcoin to make 5% lol.
I know shitcoins and all but damn ı wish I would have bought some when they were cheap. So had lots of money now to buy more bitcoin.
5%? BTC went up 20% the other day. 1,000% over the last couple of years. Just zoom out.

MtGox payout guide and calculator* Your claims in each currency is converted into "goxyen" at fixed valuations. * If you had a bankruptcy fiat claim, you're awarded the entire bankruptcy valuation of that claim plus 25.9% delay damages in full in goxyen. * If your remaining combined fiat and crypto claims, you're awarded the first 200,000 goxyen in full, starting with fiat. * If you choose early payment, you get 21% of your remaining claim amounts awarded as goxyen. * Otherwise, you wait until the end of the process for the final payment rate. (There may be interim distributions while you wait.) * Of your awarded BTC/BCH claims, some of the amount will be repaid in JPY (30% or so), so your actual awarded BTC/BCH will be lower than the nominal payout rate. * You can receive your awarded BTC/BCH at a designated exchange, alternatively the trustee will sell the coins for you and send you the resulting cash instead. Great guide, Kim at WizSec delivers again. The difference of the two options as explained in the guide The Early Lump-Sum Payment option gives you a fixed 21% of your remaining claim. This number is based on the trustee's estimate of the final percentage. Your claim against current assets will be considered already settled regardless of what the actual percentage ends up being, though you can still share in hypothetical future recoveries of additional assets.
The Final Payment option means waiting in all likelihood several more years until the end of civil rehabilitation, while remaining disputes run their course. The final payout rate will depend on actual assets and liabilities remaining at that point. If the trustee wins the majority of disputes or additional assets are recovered, this can lead to a higher payout than 21%.
However, if the trustee loses ongoing disputes or costs are greater than anticipated, the payout can drop below 21%. In extreme cases (such as CoinLab winning its lawsuit), the trustee could be forced to liquidate more coins. Let say your claim is 10 BTC, the difference in BTC/BCH between the two options would be something like this Early: 1.435 BTC, 1.435 BCH Final: 1.616 BTC, 1.630 BCH I'm definitely leaning towards the early payout option. This process could potentially go on for years, and if you believe you could make more than 10% in profit getting access to them early -- or simply just want to put this behind you, the early option would only make sense. I know there are more creditors here, what's your take on this? Also, this Next, creditors have to vote on the plan. In order for the rehabilitation plan to be be accepted, over 50% of cast votes must be in favor, but they must also represent over 50% of all determined claim value (in goxyen). The latter requires hundreds of the largest creditors to vote in favor of the plan, and while this will probably happen, with large creditor groups ready to organize and rally everyone to vote in favor. Remember, the only alternative on the table is to return to bankruptcy, which means less money for everyone.
To reiterate: when it's time to vote, you should absolutely vote YES for the civil rehabilitation plan, or we all risk losing everything we fought for over the last several years!

I realized, that I only will get 4.5 btc for my car (okay, maybe 4 BTC I have to remove 20%, because it's used)... Last week it was 5... Wow, 4 BTC? What kind of car do you have? My car is worth way under 1 BTC... My car is worth 0.001 bitcoin, and that's being generous, it runs great, starts without problem even now in the ice cold winter, and next year it will be 30 years old and no tax will ever have to be paid on it again. That's how you save money on your car. Let me guess: is it a Volvo? Yes! A Volvo 940 automatic -92, you wanna see a picture?

There's about a million other forums out there for bitcoin/crypto and all of them are dead as dead can be. Nothing, no matter the software, will ever be the same as spending time where satoshi started it all good enough for Satoshi, good enough for me. if it ever changed to other forum software i would freak out actually. but, the one thing i would like to see here is yubikey 2FA. or 2FA anything really. with the reputations (trust scores), escrow folks, merit sources and such it kinda needs it imo. but im just a bloke in the peanut gallery so as long as i can throw peanuts im happy enough. oh yeah and bring back that glowing ignore icon. i really miss that.

There's a good argument for diversification. It's just that this is not the topic of this thread. As said before, you have to make a distinction between supporting BTC as future money and supporting BTC as pure investment. If you see it as pure investment, never lay your eggs in one basket. The principle is exactly the same as for stocks, funds or whatever. If you see it as future money: hodl.

Then after Kamala, no chrome.
Why would you care anymore? That's the whole point of bitcoin. The introduction of wealth taxes, and increasing capital gains taxes can take an even larger chunk of our bitcoin though. much as i agree, its the price we pay to play legally. just need to price it in thats all.

If wealth taxes start being egregious, it might be time to consider an exit. Lots of countries where your money will go a long way.
here in the USA to renounce your citizenship (and thus never pay taxes to uncle sam again) you need to pay the exit tax on the entirety of your net worth. dont recall the percentage but 30% sticks in my head for some reason.

That's how you save money on your car. It must be a volvo then? I can remember an old ADAC test, where they put cars in a freezing chamber. Volvo was the only one to start without a problem at -38°c EDIT: Never mind, just read your reply one page back. I had no luck with Volvo in the past. Either i could not afford it or it was under/overpowered, too old or in a too bad shape for the price. They didn't hold up the quality from the 90s, so i got no desire to buy a newer V model. EDIT2: Let's see if triangulation works on the current chart. Next pump not overdue, yet

Of course also a way to lose your bitcoin. All right, topic change. No alt discussion from my side.
