Hm, that doesn't make much sense. Me thinks there is another issue going on, wonder what it is. The solution to bitcoin using too much electricity is simple: Raise the price of electricity. Price goes up fewer people mine, network is still way way way way way over secure. The other solution is time: Another halving or two and less miners will be around. Still plenty to secure the network, and people can use it for transactions. Yawn.

Chinese mining is done with lots of hydro isn't it ? Hydro that isn't even connected to the grid so gets wasted otherwise.

One of his wealthy WS buddies must have wanted to take a position. And the SEC doesn't consider this market manipulation? Un fkn believable.

Yhea, big boy's buying cheap coins while weak hands running to the exit door. Classic move that happend many time before. That energy FUD is going to abysmal, while more than 70% is renewable energy and is beeing used to secure the network but n00bs are not interested in security at all, that really boggles my mind. 1 year still looking good, it reached rock bottom.

Today I leveled ground and set up an outdoor pool. I had to rush to shut off the water at my wife's business because of a leak. My dog got caught up in the dog-next-door's lead and I had to rescue her. My back started hurting and I worked through it. I have blisters on my hand. The sink blocked up. My son got an "owie" on his hand and daddy fixed it and the richest man in the world took a dump in my portfolio.
I'm currently drinking gin & twist-up and I feel fine.

My wife just told me that CNN has been dissing Tesla for energy usage. Is Musk's tweet today somehow related to that?
(Note I'm receiving that about third-hand so take it for what it is).

But now I'm effectively retired, I get up a couple of hours later tops and can't reach the 1-3pm wake times I was capable of in my prime.

I gotta say... I respect his commitment to his ideals. An entire army of oldschool bitcoiners were starting to replace "Wen Lambo" with "Wen Tesla", and he just told them to go fuck themselves.
I am sort of being facetious, of course. But I will arrogantly point out that when they put Bitcoin on the site and everyone was asking "Will you be buying a Tesla now?", I held my tongue. For lot's of reasons, no small one being it takes more than a token gesture to earn my respect.
I have a feeling that the total number of Teslas bought with Bitcoin == 0. I think this is one of those "you can't fire me, I quit" scenarios. Musk was expecting a bunch of people to roll in with their Bitcoin and nobody came to the party.

I've seen companies first add and then drop accepting Bitcoin for years. It seems more of a hype they are running after rather than clever financial tactics for themselves or customers.
Many of those companies were selling lower-cost items. Once fees started rising, that stopped making sense. That's apparently OK here so whatever. However, something the cost of a tesla, the fees are still insignificant so it's a fairly reasonable purchase. As mentioned above, I think Musk just wasn't seeing the interest he was looking for so took his ball and went home.
Same. 3-4am is nearer my bed time than wakeup time.
Nothing like hearing the birds start singing and the light outside the window brightening toward the end of a long coding session. Haven't done that in a while.

I'll likely own an electric car one day in the future. In another 10 years or so, when the tech has matured. But I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be a Tesla.
All of the pre-existing automotive companies will be able to produce them not only better, but more reliable.
Tesla will have to pivot completely away from making cars. They don't make any money on them anyway.

Musk borrowed a s-t load of money against his Tesla stock (there was a report that he pledged 97mil of his 220 mil TSLA shares, do the calculation even at 580/pop at 25-50%), much more than SpaceX or Neuralink are using, probably. He could have invested some of that in non-btc coins OR projects, although it is a long shot. That said, he was one of paypal "mafia"/founders, so payment systems are probably quite familiar to him. A very puzzling move. We have $100bil market move and bitcoin is not under SEC purview, so they cannot do anything even if they wanted. Is this some kind of high level trolling? The joke is on us for now.
EDIT: and I was contemplating to spend my unsold doge on Tesla...f-k that idea.

Bingo. I watch Rich Rebuilds on YouTube and some of the quality issues are pretty bad for a car with premium pricing. Tesla is doing some interesting things with battery tech but I think the next-gen stuff is likely to come from elsewhere. I think if Bitcoin did a major leap, I might be onboard but still looking for a decent used diesel wagon right now.
Vitalik rug pulled n00bs yesterday with those Dogeclones and donated the money to charities.
Vitalik is a seriously smart dude. I don't agree with everything he is hyping about ETH and I think POS will be DOA but he's one to watch and I'd count him as definitely smarter than me (which is rare even if more deserve it).

Electric cars barely making any sound at all, the highways will be dead silent. Buy a sports car with a fat V8 just to troll people.

It's amazing how quickly this thread turned from sucking Elon's dick to calling him names. Long overdue though. The guy is a clown. Buy a Kia.
