For those who are interested in geopolitics..quite a sobering read:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/06/09/america-weapons-china-00100373

My hope remains that it would not come to blows...or my upcoming (in a few years) retirement would be utterly ruined.
The question is, though, why the f-k did we de-industrialize to the extent that we did?

I am 66 the wife is 67.

Lucky for us all the kids died via miscarriages. So I have zero issues of worry for my descendants.

If that's true than I'm very sorry to hear about the losses. I wish that you and your wife live happily as husband and wife. Haven't you thought about adopting a kid?

That shipped sailed 20 years ago. We spent serious money on doctors trying that way.

We gave up the dream 😴 of kids in our very early 50’s.

There are some good things.
More money for the two of us.
More time together for the two of us.
No worries about the kids getting hurt or harmed.

Jet Cash is older he is about 77

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=698159

He is very likely the oldest guy/girl on btc.

As for sad in my case or my wife’s case it is relative when compared to others.

We get along well and even though we have been together since 1985 we are still into each other.

Which is pretty joyful.

"The U.S. affiliate of Binance said it was halting dollar deposits and gave customers until Tuesday to withdraw their dollar funds, after the U.S. securities regulator asked a court to freeze its assets"

I’m a bit numb to all the ‘crypto’ FUD. I’m not really sure what to think. I mean if it stops noobs buying crapto then that should be a good thing, right?

Then again, it might turn noobs away from bitcoin too. Human beings are kinda dumb & lofs of people can’t disassociate bitcoin from crapto. In that case it’d be bad as how is the price going to moon without the influx of noobs to pump the price by FOMO’ing in after the halving?

It’s only the US & bitcoin will always soak up FUD & continue going up but a hostile US to bitcoin isn’t a good thing. They’re going after crapto but will they stop there or go after bitcoin too?

Too much to think about but I still think China banning bitcoin & COVID fallout robbed us of a truly parabolic 2021 run, the bull run was diluted. I don’t want it to happen again with a BS FUD campaign fucking us in the next bull run too.

Enough of my ramblings for now, tick tock next block. Have a good weekend gentlemen.

"The U.S. affiliate of Binance said it was halting dollar deposits and gave customers until Tuesday to withdraw their dollar funds, after the U.S. securities regulator asked a court to freeze its assets"

In the notice that I had received from Binance (in regards to BinanceUS), they said that they would try to reestablish some kinds of banking relations, but account holders could convert their USD into USDT or perhaps if the customers had not either withdrew or converted their USD prior to June 15, then their USD might end up getting converted into a stable coin.. presumably USDT.. since USDT trading pairs are still being allowed to continue... at least for now.. Let's see how things go forward, and you see that they notice that I got said that BinanceUS is becoming crypto only.. which thereby caused me to wonder "what the fuck?" when I saw the body of the e-mail... which surely they meant to say that they were not using USD anymore.. at least for the time being.

Title of the E-mail:
>>>>> Binance.US will become a crypto-only exchange<<<<<<

Body/Text of the E-mail:
>>>>>>Dear ____,

As you may be aware, Binance.US, alongside other companies in our industry, has become the target of aggressive tactics by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC has brought unjustified civil claims against our business, from which we will continue to vigorously defend ourselves, our customers, our partners and industry.

Irrespective of the baseless claims, and in light of the Commission’s increasingly aggressive tactics, our payment and banking partners have signaled their intent to pause USD fiat channels as early as June 13, 2023, meaning our ability to accept USD fiat deposits and process USD fiat withdrawals will be impacted. As part of our customer-first commitment, we are notifying users promptly so you can take necessary actions as we transition to a crypto-only exchange. To be clear, we maintain 1:1 reserves for all customer assets, so customer funds are always safe, secure, and available.

Please note the following changes that will impact the platform:

•   ACH WITHDRAWALS: We encourage customers to withdraw their USDvia bank transfer (ACH) by June 13, 2023. Due to elevated volumes and weekend bank closures, ACH withdrawals may take longer than usual to process (e.g. up to several days); we appreciate your patience.

•   USD DEPOSITS: To ensure a timely USD withdrawal process, we are suspending USD deposits and recurring buy orders today and beginning the transition to a crypto-only exchange. Any deposits already initiated will be processed.

•   USD TRADING PAIRS: Beginning next week, we will start delisting USD pairs (e.g., BTC-USD) on our platform, while continuing to support stablecoin pairs (e.g., BTC-USDT).

•   USD BALANCES: Any USD balances remaining on the platform after June 15, 2023 may be converted to stablecoin that can be withdrawn on-chain.
•   Cryptocurrency services remain fully operational, including: crypto trading, staking, deposits and withdrawals.

Until we secure more stable banking partners, Binance.US will remain a crypto-only exchange–at least for a time. We will continue to provide you with updates via our status page.

Thank you for your continued support as we fight for a path forward for those who want a thriving digital asset marketplace in America.

The Binance.US Team
<<<<<<<

Surely an interesting set of developments... and this battle is not likely to end soon.... even if everyone seems to want to write Binance off as a goner and also the BinanceUS version.. and from my perspective they don't seem to be giving up (or just rolling over).. at least not yet.. let's see.. let's see.
