Why is the S&P 500 falling (currently down about 10% from ATH) while Bitcoin is not falling but trading in the $60k - $75k range?

War→Oil↑  → Inflation↑ → Interest rate still high → Stocks↓→ Bitcoin ↓↓↑

It's falling. Just looking more resilient since it recovers faster.

Bullish news has no power in a bear market and sometimes it seems quite odd to me just how sentimental people are. Only extreme examples would work.

So nothing short of the USA announcing they are buying 1M Bitcoin for their reserve... by next friday will not work in this market.

Bullish news has no power in a bear market and sometimes it seems quite odd to me just how sentimental people are. Only extreme examples would work.

So nothing short of the USA announcing they are buying 1M Bitcoin for their reserve... by next friday will not work in this market.

Still, Morgan Stanley news is very significant.
When such heavy-hitters launch something like this, they expect a relatively lengthy uptrend.
Granted, we don't know at which btc price they would launch at, but from that point on it would likely to be mostly up (with a up to -10% initial reaction possible).
Personally, I am changing at least some some of my IBIT and FBTC in ret accounts to MSBT.

I am indeed familiar with them. They've been around quite some time. Top shelf working band in their genre for ages.

The music is not quite my bag, though. And I fall into that bucket for a lot of big American rock artists.  Springsteen, Dylan, just not my bag.

Ive played drum set for a few groups that are exactly in this genre. Good money, good party band.  I guarantee you Mustang Sally and chain of fools are probably really high in their rotation.

Their life stuff seems decent. I guarantee you this though, if I got the tracks I could make it sound a lot better.

Interesting that you mention playing drums - I’ve always felt that the best engineers (and bassists, for that matter) have a 'drummer’s brain' when it comes to the pocket. Whether you're behind the kit or holding down the low end on an upright, it's all about that 'physics of the mix', right?

It is very big news, don't get me wrong. My point was mostly limited to the ridiculousness of bear markets and how sentiment kills reactions to great news, I did not mean to diminish the significance of this news. I am actually quite interested to see how their ETF will grow compared to previous ETFs. Also I wonder who may be the next to launch after Morgan Stanley?

Looking forward to the charts that will arise from this.

This got me thinking, I don't think a Bitcoin reserve has a chance until almost all the heavy-hitters are in position. Only then it may have some chance of becoming a thing because they will massively profit from this happening. What do you think?

After a brutal stretch of outflows, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reported a staggering $561.9 million in net inflows today. Fidelity (FBTC) actually led the pack with $153M, followed closely by BlackRock’s IBIT at $142M.

Analysts are calling $68,000–$69,000 the 'line in the sand'. If we can't reclaim that soon, we might see that $65,000 floor tested again.

BTW, the new Morgan Stanley Bitcoin ETF (MSBT) has a massive potential inflow with a $160 Billion catalyst... Morgan Stanley manages roughly $6.2 trillion in client assets, even a small shift in allocation is significant. Analysts are looking at the following projections: The 'Monster Bitcoin' Catalyst: If advisors move toward a modest 2% allocation for their clients, it could translate into roughly $160 billion in new demand. That would be a tremendously good thing for Bitcoin!

I disagree. I've been a member since 2017 (for 9 years now) and remember many exciting times we've had here in WO over the years. In fact, most of the time here I find quite interesting and visit almost daily. There are spells of trollery, degeneracy and merit whoring, but they tend to come in waves that don't last for very long. They are quite amusing, actually (an empty ignore list helps with that). Also, toxic individuals tend to self-disintegrate, they just can't survive here. There's no need for moderation. No rules, yet self-regulating. Chaotic, yet ordered. Anarchic, yet structured. Bullish, yet balanced. No wonder it's the largest thread in the entire forum.

Maybe the time before 2017 was way better, I haven't had the chance to browse the older posts, so I'll give you that, but I wouldn't call it a "bear market".

Phil - Funny you mention 'farady'. I have used Faraday highly conductive cloth as a ground plane or counterpoise for certain HF antennas in the past.

The new Morgan Stanley Bitcoin ETF (MSBT) news is actually heating up. Lot's of chatter about it. Analysts are calling it a "Vampire Attack" on BlackRock (IBIT). Morgan Stanley is pumped about it, in anticipation of MSBT’s April debut.

Morgan Stanley is about to put bitcoin in front of 16,000 financial advisors managing $6.2 trillion.

The firm just filed an amended S-1 with the SEC for a spot Bitcoin ETF called the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust, ticker MSBT. The fee is 0.14%, making it the cheapest Bitcoin ETF ever proposed in the US. That undercuts Grayscale's Mini Trust by a basis point and BlackRock's IBIT by 11.

The pricing is deliberate. At 0.14%, no advisor in their network can argue the fee is too high to recommend. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas put it bluntly: "They are the ultimate gatekeepers of rich boomer money."

This is also the first time a traditional bank has filed for a spot Bitcoin ETF. BlackRock and Fidelity are asset managers. Morgan Stanley is a bank. That's a different level of institutional commitment. They've tapped Coinbase and Bank of New York Mellon as custodians, applied for a national trust banking charter to custody digital assets directly, and filed separately for a staked Ether ETF and a Solana ETF.

None of this came out of nowhere. Last October, Morgan Stanley started recommending a 2 to 4 percent crypto allocation for clients and opened bitcoin fund access inside IRAs and 401(k)s. The ETF is just the next logical step.

Wall Street isn't debating bitcoin anymore. They're fighting over who gets to sell it.
