Jorge will go down in history as one of the most successful trolls to have ever lived. Intelligent people here still don't understand he's a troll.
Is there anyone who ever said Jorge is not a troll Oda for one. I don't think Jorge is a troll, per se -I think he just decided on the thesis for the book he plans to write about The Great Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme long before he showed up here to start doing research - so now he cannot allow himself to be swayed. Sad because he would probably make more money investing in bitcoin than he is ever likely to make from any such book.

Very single minded and will never change, but you can't help thinking... anyone who spends that much time thinking about that, really must see something in it...

For example, I am currently pessimistic about the chances of the price ever getting much higher than now
that's new. Yawn- putting this Jorge joker back on ignore yea, me too. also, I put TERA on ignore. I am tired of this "trend is broken" TA mumbo-jumbo/we are going to 100 k bipolar disorder. not to mention he/she dichotomy. Very smart.

I'm a bear troll myself now, huh? Kind of used inflationary lately. Oh well, better start posting random downtrends while I'm still unignored by a few laggards.

Sad because he would probably make more money investing in bitcoin than he is ever likely to make from any such book. He's basically a master of Sigmund Freud-style Kettle Logic. That sort of thing is appropriate in a setting such as an academic debate, where the discussion consists of an isolated event in which the negative team marks a win with success in just one of the prima facie issues, and thus self-contradictory lines of reasoning are indicated as a competitive strategy. But in the context of exchanging ideas with other people on an informal and on-going basis, this is suicide, because its impossible to trust the judgment of an individual who is willing to say whatever it takes to advance a completely pre-determined conclusion.

Obviously the optimists are all out of money now.
Now that is very unrealistic. As an optimist with money I can assure you it is not true. The problem may be that a group of optimists want the price to go down until the auction... but regardless, clearly there could be quite a bit of short term volatility as traders attempt to front run any actual or imagined downwards "encouragement". For example, the high USD demand on bitfinex -- just because you take the USD loan doesn't mean you have to buy coins with it. Since the primary way to get funds to bitfinex is via BTC, this demand could be people encouraging others to sell their coins and put the USD up for loan.

Anyway. I tried to find out what the usual practice is of a USMS Asset Forfeiture auction. Did I understand it correctly that they usually don't publish the result of the auction, i.e. who submitted the winning bids, or the total sum received in the auction?

I admit that there may be some truth in that. My first reactions when I heard about bitcoin, touted to be the investment that would make everyone a millionnaire, were "if it sounds too good to be true, it surely ain't" and "oh no, here we go again - another TelexFree". My view of bitcoin has not improved as a result of knowing more about it, quite the opposite; but perhaps my probabilities are still biased by my earlier public position, as you say. Anyway, I don't see why my stubborness should bother people so much. The longer I persist in my negative view, the greater will be your fun when I will be finally proved wrong. Sad because he would probably make more money investing in bitcoin than he is ever likely to make from any such book.
The only book I made some money out of was my Ph.D. thesis, published by Academic Press and now out of print . I got perhaps 15.000 US$ in royalties from the publisher, spread over several years. However, considering that writing it took me the equivalent of 2-3 years of full-time work (also spread over some 7 years, interspersed with other research), I would be a fool if I had done it for the money. I did not get an extra dime of royalties for any of the papers and reports that I wrote since then. Journal publishers pay no royalties to authors, but writing papers is considered a requirement of my job (the "publish or perish" principle). I think that a critical story of Bitcoin this far would make a very interesting book actually. But it would take another kind of author to make best use of the juicy parts.

Thanks for postin this, i don´t see us havin a bottom reached yet, and for the first time thinking about sellin my precious Bitcoins. I couldn´t stand it seeing them going lower again. maybe it´s time to get out of the game! I possibly will buy in again @ around 100-300$ I will NOT enter above! From what i understand about TA and learned in the last weeks, this whole uptrend has been nothing else that another bulltrap on it´s way to the real bottom! I made the mistake to listen to the false prophets in here. JayJuenGee?! Ohh "Brand new JayJuenGee" I see whats happening here..

Crap filters keep out the crap. Admitedly some diamonds do get flushed into the sewers, but if you have nearly enough diamonds already you are probably not motivated to strain sewage for them.
