if the bids were well above 630$, shouldn't he reveal the values, to push the price up? He's probably too busy buying if he knows it's high. Give people a couple more hours

I am bullish.. and I love Bitcoin.
But I feel a red candle coming up shortly.
Kinda feel the same way, this don't look real to me. But hell, 7 solid months of a skittish, panicky bear market can begin to make even the most diehard bull feel pessimistic. So what do I know. 7 months is nothing. Summer 2011 until February 2013...

The limited buyer group tends to insure that auctions go below market. Unless these coins are more valuable than others. The bigger the buying audience, the better the auction pricing and closer to market.
The sheer price also reduces the market. 3000 at current prices is $1.8 million. And there's more than one package too so supply is fairly high. Some will likely go for not too far below market value but I expect a few to go for 40% or more discount. Though I wouldn't be shocked to see the whole lot go for really cheap. this auction is a great entry point for large buyers without moving the market. try buying volume like this on an exchange without sending us to the moon. I think the auction will end above market price but no where near where market price would be if that volume were bought on an exchange. Just quoting myself

I'm getting carpal tunnel from cancelling offers and chasing the price up hill.
3000 coins to break 650. Then we've only got, what, 186000 coins of powder left over? So scary.
Could take a while to arrive, though.

Mine lasted about a year, but I had to jam the bike hard really back into the launcher while I cranked it. Otherwise I'd super rev it only for it to launch about 4 inches and then fall over.

Regarding silk road coins, if you had around $1.809.000 and bough BTC for it, would you sell them straight away? I don't think so. Anyone buying those coins will be longterm holders.
I have this notion (please correct me) that government auctions of other kinds of property, such as cars and houses, generally are closed well below the respective market prices. It seems that the people who bid at government auctions usually include "professionals" who buy only to resell. Those people place bids significantly below market price; if there are no higher bidders, they have made their day; otherwise they just retrieve their deposit and move on to the next auction. People who are not "professionals" tend to be scared away by the bureaucratic requirements and the large deposit. Since there will be some delay between sending the payment and receiving the coins, the bidders will also have to factor into their bids the likelihood of the market price falling in that interval and then taking months to recover. In summary, it is by no means assured that the auction will close above market. I rather expect the opposite. The limited buyer group tends to insure that auctions go below market. Unless these coins are more valuable than others. The bigger the buying audience, the better the auction pricing and closer to market. sup mang looks like our trick is working!!! muuahahahahahah ;-) LOL
