I'm waiting on a couple of 1080 ti FE's to come in today/tomorrow Cheesy
In the mean time I've settled on the following for my EVGA 1060 6GB SSC card in my main work/gaming PC:

Power target: 61%
Temp target: 90C
GPU offset: +90
Mem offset: +900
Fan target: 45%

Clocks are at ~1900 core and 9600 memory and this nets me ~310 sol/s @ 90W which ends up being around 3.4 Sol/W
The temperature is right around 67C and the fan noise is very quiet

The best thing is I can just work away, watch videos etc. and I barely even notice that it's mining Cheesy

So will Afterburner will work on non-MSI cards?

I got the itch.  Going to order/CL some other 1070,1080,1080ti to fill out this PSU/rig.

screenshots are there  showing  it will.

and if it does not zotac  has a nvidia only that works

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/zotac-firestorm-download.html

Sometimes if you mix and match  cards   msi afterburner takes the power % away.

Since 65-75%  settings  save a lot of power  you can use the zotac instead. So far  that never  stopped me at setting 65-75% power

Since I sold the pandaminer  and 26 of 34 amd cards  my setup  did not involve much out of pocket.   Since power is lower by 1000 watts I save on heat cooling and power costs.

I now have

2 amd cards at the solar array
6 amd card in the garage
9 nvidia cards in the garage
2 nvidia cards on the way

every 16 days I payoff  a nvidia 1080 ti  based on 44 usd a day earned after power cost

so of the seven 1080 ti's  that I have  one of them is already paid  for.

this  allows me to keep on doing the  fast turnover  of cards at good discounts.

For now I will mine  a  bit and talk with buysolar about the array and how much we move out of my garage into the array.

During the June 1 to Oct 1 time period I need to be at 500 watts or less in the garage.  So what I can't fit in the array will be sold off.

As the garage will have 2 small gpu rigs a few sticks from sidehack.  I will miss the pretty lites. Until October comes by.

hey Phil... regarding your summer pare-down of rigs/GPUs... I think you said you do it because your electricity rates nearly double in the summer, correct?  This makes sense in previous years but with the huge upswing in the price of Alts the last few months, wouldn't you still be pretty profitable with your rigs even pay 2x for electricity?

For instance, you said you are currently at about 16 days to ROI a 1080ti... so even if your rates are 2x in the summer, wouldn't that still mean you could ROI them in about a month?  Maybe I'm missing something (probably something to do with your solar array) but I couldn't figure it out... unless maybe it's also a heat/safety issue.  I am personally wondering what will happen to me in the summer. My rates don't increase and it rarely gets above 80-85 here in Oregon, but my house's A/C isn't exactly powerful so wondering how hot it's going to get before I have to consider turning off rigs on occasion. Currently, I have 1 each in my garage, den, dining area, and 1 upstairs bedroom. I would consider moving 1 or more to the garage but it has zero ventilation unless i open the garage door, so I doubt that would be a solution.

I think it is mainly due to the heat. But I think he can also undervolt a lot to save more energy.

Woohoo, found a 1080 Ti on craigslist that he is letting go for $600, that will complete my first Nvidia rig which now has...

1080 Ti
1080
1080
1070

Now I just need to properly tune them, hoping to pull 2000 sol/s with this rig.

the 1080 ti will do 630
the 1080    will do 500
the 1080    will do 500
the 1070   will do  420

that is 2050   if you do power settings at 70%   you should be under 715 watts at the wall

I think it is mainly due to the heat. But I think he can also undervolt a lot to save more energy.

well I could try to do this.

 keep  7 1080ti's
keep   1 1080
keep   2 1070
keep   1 1060       this ia all of my nvidia

move 4 asus strix rx 480 8gb
move 2 msi rx 480 8gb            putting them in the array

this is all of my amd  I have 2 diamond rx 480 8gb in the array  as a test 1 crash in 25 days

We have plenty of power for the array  we can provide 3 30 amp 240 volt circuits that is 72 amps at 240 or over 16000 watts.

since the array is in a loft in a rebuilt barn  the loft is hot .

we have
1 2 gpu rig      =    300 watts
3 avalon 721's   = 3000 watts
½ bitmain r4     =   450 watts
⅓ bitmain s-9    =   450 watts
4 bitmian s-9    =  5400 watts
total of      ------  9600 watts.

which means I could move everything to the array since I am burning 3000 watts in the garage  so 12600 of 16000 we would be good.

We need to re-design  the arrays air flow  as that loft got really hot last summer.

I will have a lot of work to do.  trying to figure if I move or don't move.  I also have my friends office over the bank it is running the noisy r4 with good board but a noisy fan.

I could locate 1 pc with 2 gpus in his spot.

AS TO could I run  all my gear in my house in the summer and turn a profit  yeah but the wife will be annoyed at 24/7 ac  my power bill would approach 750 usd a month and earn say 1300 in coin.

I will talk it over with the wife, buysolar, and my friend IRA.

Damit man! Feel better! And congrats on the new cards!

Right now I sound like Harvey Fierstein

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja_-1FJONBw

Every spring for 30 years  I get the post nasal drip sore throat and I swear My voice changes to a copy of his.

all i want to do is eat  some Benadryl  and sleep for a few days.

Have to say I am liking the 1080 ti's

3 card rigs do 1900h at 610 watts

I could do 4 rigs  easy peasy.

The best price I got was 669 - 50 ebucks = 619 new card really big ebay seller. 200,000 plus feedbacks.

If I new what I was doing  I would have grabbed more at that price.

Newegg and Amazon charge me 7% sales tax

Provantage had some good deals

http://www.provantage.com/msi-gtx1080tiaero11goc~7MSTI0M9.htm   this was about 707 with shipping

Ever try purse.io? can get like 15-20% off amazon prices when paying with btc.. I use it occasionally. I don't think it works with rebates but it did still work with a warranty when i had to rma a sapphire gpu.. just throwig this out there if you were looking for another cheap alternative and didn't know about it

So If anyone knows about any other MOBO which is not the MSI Z270, ASROCK BTC, GIGABYTE Z270 and it's kinda cheap, please tell me Smiley

ASRock 970 Extreme 4 is working well in a couple of my mining rigs on a 3-card build, as well as in the newest "gaming" system I recently built.
I believe you can still find the Sempron 145, which is a good low-cost CPU option for this board - if not, whatever the lowest-cost dual-core AM3 or AM3+ cpu you can find should be plenty for a mining rig, but the MB can support at least up to the top-end FX 8xxx series 8-core CPUs as well (but not the 9xxx series 220w monsters).

It has a couple of 1x slots as well if you wanted to go with a riser-based rig.

The only reason it's not my primary "go to" option is that I like having an APU in a rig to point at Moo! Wrapper / BOINC / Dnet (my current go-to board is the ASRock FM2A88X Extreme6+).

I don't see 420 out of my 1070s on ZEC but I need to update Nicehash on those machines, I do see 380 with pretty much no tuning though per card and I remember playing around with one rig and dropping it about 100 watts with just turning the power tune max down to 75% or so, with a very small drop on hashrate.
Figure 500-520 watts for a rig with a cheap low-power CPU (I'm pulling 570-580 but that's with a A10-7890k running Moo! Wrapper on the GPU side of the APU).

Say a 1080ti = 700h/s for Zcash = $700 USD

An rx 470, if you undervolt to 1000 core/1750 mem/800mv gives 220 - 240h/s and power draw of 50 - 65W from wall I think?

No - you are wrong. It will be ~95W

Efficiency is still worse than 1080ti (not that much worse though), but we can buy 4 - 5 Rx 470 for the price of a single 1080ti.

No - you cannot buy 4-5 new rx 470 for $700

4 you can - I paid $341 and change for my pair of Sapphire RX 470 cards.
Just have to shop carefully for sale prices on decent cards.

5 is..... no bloody way on new cards.

Tradeoff is that you need 4x as many complete systems though, so the overall cost isn't nearly as good as the per-card basis indicates.

Are 1080s (non-Tis) interesting, considering the price drop?

IMO they might be THE sweet spot for NVidia right now for mining with.

I'll know for sure when the one I ordered yesterday gets here and I get the chance to play with it (it's a 1080 version of some of the Gigabyte 1070s I already have, so it should be a fair comparison).

Is Seasonic 1000w platinum enough for 4x 1080(non-ti) on ZEC? Thanks.

Probably a bit marginal - definitely not a good idea if you ever plan to do anything else with that machine that might push the 1080s closer to their TDP.
Should be fine for *just* ZEC usage though.

Go with the X-1000 plat though, not that Prime junk with the SLEEVE BEARING fans though IMO.
Well I have room for more GPUs. Hard to find anything used in my price range... so i may end up buying new.

Should i be sticking with 480s or switching to 570s? There's not much difference in the price for these 2.

4xx series is a hair more efficient, but if you can get the 5xx series cards cheaper it's probably a push - avaiability of 4xx series cards seems to be drying up and price gouging happening as a result.

Apologies for some OT.  I don't post on this forum much but I thought philipma1957 might have some interest in this.  Foxminer.

Seriously? I can't imagine anyone spending more than 90 seconds looking into this.

It took me longer to get the page to load than to realise they were a scam.

"First dual-miner SHA256 and Scrypt chip" claim is so BLATANT - can you say Gridseed? Can you say SFARDS?

4.3.0 works for me on Sapphire, HIS, reference AMD, Gigabyte, and EVGA in various rigs around here.

On GAMING, the 5xx series provides better performance, as opposed to a lot of mining where the memory speed is THE primary limit.
For miners, the 4xx series remains a better option as a general rule.

Is anyone CPU and gpu mining on the same rigs? I tried it, but my gpu driver kept crashing because the cpu couldn't do both. Have 4gb ram only though. Could that be the problem?

The "Gaming" rig I built does fine - 8-core FX 8570, 16 GB RAM, pair of RX 470 and a HD 7750 Low Profile (for cooling reasons), but I limit it to 7 cores for mining XMR with in Nicehash.

I do NOT try to mine on it while playing Ashes:Escalation of course!

So my hash rate on the 1070 is varying from 380 to 430 H/s.  The temp is constant at 53 or so.  I have the clock at +100 MHz or so, but the actual rate is only 1475 MHz.  How do you keep it in the higher clock state?

Looks like your 1070 is hashing fine.

Your card isn't mostly in p2 state while mining, not p0.

There's ways to force it via the built in nvidia tools, or to use kboost in precision x 16.

Follow the batch link in my sig for info on forcing p0 state.  3 links deep.

Link to my batch and script resources here.

yes

but

new version has grouping feature that will cease the need to have multiple emails to mine different algos

I opened up the nvidia control panel applet in the windows settings, and my hash rate jumped from 390 to 460 H/s.  The rendering of the spinning nvidia logo made the card jump to a higher performing state.  Power went from 50W to 80W, though, as reported by Afterburner.  What is a reasonable power draw for the 1070?

I opened up the nvidia control panel applet in the windows settings, and my hash rate jumped from 390 to 460 H/s.  The rendering of the spinning nvidia logo made the card jump to a higher performing state.  Power went from 50W to 80W, though, as reported by Afterburner.  What is a reasonable power draw for the 1070?

Well those first 390h you are at 7.8 h to 1 watt which is really good.

When you are at 460h  you are at 5.75 h to 1 watt which is not as good but still good.

I measure at the wall with a kwatt meter and I do 3.3 h per watt.

I know at the wall is  more power used .  I am not sure what my afterburner shows for power since I run windows 7  .

Looks like your 1070 is hashing fine.

Your card isn't mostly in p2 state while mining, not p0.

There's ways to force it via the built in nvidia tools, or to use kboost in precision x 16.

I found this article on how to manually set the P state. http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/p0-power-state/ But...  my version of the driver 381.65 does NOT return the power state table, so I'm unsure of what to set.  I'll experiment with values and see what happens.

I also use kill-a-watt at the wall; software is almost always off.

The accuracy of Nvidia-smi (what ewbf uses to calculate your hash/watt) depends on what model 1070 you are using.  For example in Linux; an EVGA FTW 1070 at 118 powerlimit uses the same amount of power at the wall as a zotac mini 1070 at 125 powerlimit.

Using 125 watts (at the wall) should be the optimal hash/watt if you have reasonable power costs.

on my six gpu 1070 rig i found that i can dual mine eth and dcr at 980 or so watt while zec muning at 2500 has uses 950

dual mining is 170 eth and 3500 dcri , which is more profitable than zec

this is with core +122 mem +500 and power lim 70

zec of 2500h using 950 watts?

what psu do you use.

I don't do six card rigs but my 3 card rigs are all 3.1h to 1 watt  you are 2.63 h to 1 watt

I am interested as to why you are not as efficient as my setups.

I do all plat or titanium psu's

well it starts high at like 2666 zec at first then for some reason some of the cards throttle down frim 460 zec to 400
then stablizes at around 2500

psu might be the issue using a 1000 watt evga p2 platinum
I inly use platinum psu as well

what are your msi after burner settings

It's changing P states. See above.  Try this, I'd be curious if you can get it to work.  Which driver version do you have?
