Impressive that you are using 3*1080ti and a 1070 off a single 850W PSU. Are they all set to 65% TPD?
How difficult is it to commence mining on a USB based OS? I am using HDD's and Windows 10 ATM, I would love to expand and use USB OS.
I have the 1080ti's set to 70% TPD and the 1070 mini to 80% TDP. My next rig will have a 1000w power supply so I can test out power levels better. I do think the 70% TPD on the 1080ti's is the sweet spot for now.

I can get much better sols per watts setting in the 55% tdp area but lose a lot of hash And when you go past 80% they suck power like mad. so mine are 68 to 72% tdp unless price of coin jumps a lot I then go closer to 80% other points a decent mobo is a 2-3 year item I tend to sell cards every late spring early summer. I have space I have power but in house power is costly and keeping cards cool is hard. I don not mind 2 card 3 card rigs now and bumping them to 4 cards in the winter. I have 7 rigs using 14 cards a 1 card a 3 card five 2 card rigs. AND the solar array rigs 4 of them 1 two card 1080 ti 1 two card 1070 1 three card 1080 ti 1 three card 1070

Cryptomined's review.... P106-100 NVIDIA 1060 Mining Cards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9deSVpjm1Kkso in conclusion..... 1. same performance as existing gaming 1060s..... even though touted to be less 200 bucks -- its a mining card with no video out so no sell value back to the gaming world 2. with VEGA coming with monster HBM2 performance (ETH loves fast memory).... IMHO that will just kill ETH mining with even higher difficulty and cuts profitability ..... and maybe trigger exodus on miners going to ETC and other coins.... GPU mining will be less attractive unless.... we spend more money in VEGA mining rigs (VEGA 500$? 1200$?) 3. With ETH POS coming..... VEGA coming..... that perfect storm will contribute to a massive ETH difficulty around the corner. 4. While GPU mining is at its boom.... I think expanding to ASICS will be easier to digest than spending more money in more expensive GPUs. 5. I think we need to do a wait and see approach in coming weeks

Am looking forward to it! Ordered one of those 12 gpu motherboards which should be here next week. Will be nice to have 12 per motherboard to lower per gpu cost. So when are the new AMD gpu coming out? Thought they already were, but have not seen them on newegg.

Frontier edition (the WORKSTATION initial Vega model) has been on Newegg for almost a week now.
The CONSUMER Vega cards have been held up due to Micron having production issues with HBM2, per many rumors and reports - probably around another month, perhaps longer, depending on which rumor.
I don't see VEGA being a major good ETH card series though, for the same reasons the Fury wasn't a monster ETH card - but they might do well on stuff like ZEC where the memory latency of HBM is less of an issue.

Hynix manufactures HBM2, not Micron. Micron makes GDDR5, GDDR5X, and soon GDDR6

I suspect so Phil because HBM2 will be sweet for ETH and ZEC is not really memory hungry but you need massive compute to get ZEC to fly (like R9s). If this VEGA is a souped-up R9-Fury X type card then it will be a monster card that can do ETH (fast memory) and ZEC (massive compute) very well. But this 1k card is really a waste of money, IMHO... because we end up doing 3-4 card rigs because of PSU requirements. We are already doing that for 1080ti.

I have 20 mobos that can be populated with 2 or 3 cards. stability is great with the smaller builds a big flaw with 5,6,7,8 card builds is a shit card can force you to keep other cards at lower settings with some software/mining os. so if you have 6 cards and one rig the entire rig may suffer as it all needs to be clocked lower due to some poor cards if you have 2 biostar z170's you can run one with 2 poor cards clock low and one with 4 cards clock high. the deal is that this is more true for a 50 card farm or smaller as individual care of 17 three card rigs is not hard. if you have a 300 card farm with 100 3 card rigs vs 50 6 card rigs it is more work. I have never past 52 cards so small rigs = no worries.

HBM2 will NOT be "sweet for ETH" as it has the same sort of memory latency issues as HBM. It will be better due to faster speed and SOMEWHAT lower latency, but not by a lot. The Vega is an offshoot of the Fury/FuryX/Nano arch, so it will probably perform like a much faster Fury series - how much faster will depend on the number of cores (Frontier has same core count as the FuryX and Nano, consumer versions will probably start at the same 4096 and go DOWN from there) and the clocks (Frontier is 50-60% HIGHER than the fastest of the Fury series) on the consumer cards. The Frontier Edition is intended to be a WORKSTATION card (ignore the folks that say it's not, AMD itself is stating that and the whole DESIGN screams "workstation" orientation like the WX series). This means it's going to tend to be clocked a bit slower than an comparable consumer card, for higher reliability, and will tend to have a cooling system designed for many cards in one rack mount case. Compare the WX 7100 to a consumer RX 480 for a specific example of how this works. I anticipate the high-end "consumer" Vega will be same cores, slightly higher clocks, and lower cost than the Frontier Edition - and it won't LOOK like a WX series card, but more like the RX series even in the "reference" design. Then the aftermarket cards will hit and push the clocks even higher with at least some having much better cooling solutions.

I was thinking page 99. I sold my seven 1070s I was going to buy all 1080 ti's with the sales. I may get a few Amd vegas instead. 7 1070s were doing 2800 Sols at 700 watts I think three Vegas will do 3000 sols at 600 watts
