I can't speak for everyone but personally I'm happy to pay my share of the escrow and don't expect anyone to be out of pocket on my behalf ;-)

yes, I also paid my share to escrow without any problems. It must be complicated to manage the group, answering questions and take responsibility for thousands of dollars.. if I compare it with fee - it is nothing.

how do you get 10'000, when it says 2124 remaining, 4000 reserved?

have 7876 been ordered? are you not updating the 1st post or what is happening?

I am 70% about ordering, as the risk seems worth it, and I am just going to clarify everything first Smiley. no offence, it's the internet. Also my Q's and your A's may convince other buys to opt in.

so options are a 1 chip unit, 16 chip unit, and 80. only 16 is for sure? what is the expected hash rate for the 16 chip unit?

can these units work in tandem? are they USB?

also, I guess the software is already prepared?

if I order chips, then I can opt for you to hold onto them and make a unit then send me that?

The current orders: 3876 ordered, 4000 reserved for a person insisting for reservation. 2124 remaining.
Isnt't 2124 in the top, green line of the thread?
1. Only for the 16 chip pcb i have a certain price without fan, heatsink and power supply. We also need that and it will also weight on the price tag. However, i'm thinking on offering the power supply separately.
2. Yes, they are USB, but they do not draw power from the usb. So, AFAIK, about 250 can be plugged in one pc.
3. Bkkcoins, the creator of the Klondike design, is currently working on the software. He has also managed to build an almost final version of this 16 chip miner. When it will be final, i can launch it in mass production.
4. Yes, you can opt to have a complete miner using yiur chips. You will be asked for the additional funds for the miner and the shipping costs. Also, in eighter way, you will be asked for your shipping address.

I hope i cleared all your questions for now.

Hi, I've read every page and can't seem to find if cost of materials and your fee for completed miner have been stated.  I see assembly cost, maybe that covers materials.  I know you are keeping the fee low for chips, but is there also no fee for handling?  Any idea what shipping will be?

What happens if some of the 10k chips don't work? Or if the final PCB received doens't work? Since each chip is allocated to a person this might be a problem right?

Avalon has promised that they will send working and tested chips ONLY. As for the PCB, it will be a working and tested design prior of soldering the Avalon chips.
As I said in one of the previous posts, there is good chance something goes wrong until the time we have working asic miner, so everybody has to do his/her risk assessment on his/her own. As far as I'm concerned, those 2 positions you mention, hold the least risk among others.

The price of the materials (PCB + elements, different from the Avalon chips) will be added in this 75-100 Euro estimated price for the Klondike (16 chips design) PCB. If there is a fee, it will be added in the price  of the PCB (completed board + elements, different from Avalon chips).
The final price of the asic miner will be:
1. [price of avalon chips]
+
2. [price of PCB]
+
3. [price of Fans, Radiators, Power Supply, Case].

I suppose position 3 will be optional. For example I will not need Cases for miners, I plan making waterblocks for my miners, which will remove the need for fans and radiators, I'll try to make power supply on my own. So in my case position 3 will not be calculated in my final price.

Shipping to you will depend on your location. If you are outside EU, you might have to pay (import taxes + VAT) in your country, but this is highly individual for each and every country. The cost of the shipping will be the least of the whole price. For example, if you are outside EU, and you order 2-3 bare PCB (no Fans, no Radiators, no power supply, only PCB with all soldered elements) there is very good chance you package to pass customs without paying anything, as it will be small package. But if you have 20 boards, with fans, radiators, power supply's, it will be big and heavy package, which will most likely attract attention when in customs and it will checked, for which you'll have to pay VAT and import taxes.

Hello,
No offence, but i would not like to disclose the cost of the materials and manufacturing. Not that it's dirt-cheap, but i just don't want to give that information out. It's definitely not under 70 Eur, that's for sure. Currently i'm trying to solve a heatsink and fan on every device, so the final price for the K16 design would be 85 Eur WITHOUT power source. I'm also wondering if Bkkcoins can provide a barrel jack or something on the device, so we won't be forced to use a huge ATX power supply for only 2 boards, for example.
There is a small fee for handling the chips too. 0.081 per chip covers John's commission, import tax and something on the side for me, but not much. The idea is to have the chips already ordered and then to have those sample chips coming in to build a nice little proto board.
Shipping time for the chips will be Batch-Completion-Date + 1-2 days + 10 Weeks TSMC lead time. I really hope we can close the batch before the end of May, though. That would be awesome. It will arrive sometime in the first week on August.

Might be. But not necessary neet to be if you're smart and assume error rates. The chips are tested at the TSMC foundry. The PCBs will be tested electrically by the factory here. I will test the boards personally before shipping them out. So if something snaps, i will have backup chips / PCBs to send to customers. Noone will be left out, i promise that!

K16 design would be 85 Eur WITHOUT power source

I know we are playing an estimation game...but is that 85 Eur a shot in the dark for a K16 with all needed components installed (resisters, capacitors, etc etc etc....excluding heatsinks, fans and PSU...not counting the Avalon ASICs).

Or are we talking board only? No components at all.

That's exactly right. So to get a bigger picture, i am currently making an offer for several types of packages:
- Bare PCB without components
- Populated PCB without chips
- Populated PCB with Your chips
- Populated PCB with My chips (still thinking on possibilities here - Possibly High lead time)
- Populated PCB with your chips + heatsink + fan
- Populated PCB with My chips + heatsink + fan (still thinking on possibilities here - Possibly High lead time)
- Any of the above in bigger quantities (wholesale) at a lower price!
- ATX Power supply
Power supply NOT included, sold separately!

85 Eur should cover (almost) all: Bare PCB + Components + Heatsink + Fan
It does not cover the Power "sauce" nor the Avalon chips. --->> NEED HELP HERE! Need a power source solution that is smaller than an ATX supply. I'm thinking on a power brick used for the BFL Jalapeno, LittleSingle, Single.

I think it's time to open another thread offering the boards. It's getting confusing to people and complicated to keep track of all.

Nono, you have sent enough. I still have 0.2 BTC from the tip you've sent Smiley

No need to send anything anymore. Thanks for being proactive!
