... A question for those of you running these block erupters on their raspberry pi: Where in /dev/ do you find these? Is it /dev/ttyUSB1 or /dev/bus/usb/ or somewhere like that? Does some driver need to be installed for them to show up? I plan on trying to use bfgminer first with the -S all option.
They will show up as /dev/ttyUSBx. No need to install a driver, the USB2Serial driver is preinstalled on a rpi. I dont know if it would make a difference but do you have any recommendations for a USB hub that i could use with a raspberry pi? One that can power at least four of these block erupters. Please and thank you! Not sure if I should recommend my powered hub here. This might start some discussion as it's cheap and backfeeding my rpi (model B revision 2)... With other words you do not need to connect a µUSB power adapter to your rpi. Even if this should not be a problem with a model B revision 2, backfeed on your own risk. There is a list with recommended powered hubs: http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#Powered_USB_HubsHowever, hashing here with a rpi, four Block Erupers, a WiFi dongle, a Lancelot and USB fan connected: Logilink UA0096. Not sure if it's available in the US, I'm located in Germany. Took a picture some days ago: (without USB fan) Edit: I'm slow.

... EDIT: Also, whats backfeed with the pi?!
Basically powering the rpi via its USB output. The power supply on your picture showing 5V and 2A, right? This might work, but it's really close to the limit. Estimate a little bit more than 0.5A for one Block Erupter. 2A is really on the edge. But give it a try!

Got my device yesterday. I've not tired it since I'm interested in other things, but before I forget, I've sent a 0.1 BTC tip to 1F4j4Lha8BjL4wxwFVbGaQwMJ4Kd1brfXb This brings my outlay into a range where I feel it adequately compensates ~arklan for his outstanding work.
I've not tipped John K because I believe his compensation to be basically adequate for the services rendered. I do appreciate his going above and beyond the call over the course of this transaction. Again, though, I think it best that he avoids becoming involved in servicing any efforts which might be construed as having conflict-of-interest issues. Escrow is currently an under-served market at this time so some of that is understandable, but as things grow, I believe that transparency and demonstrable avoidance conflict of interest are going to be keys to success.

I mean fucking honestly USPS... I could have gotten on a bike and took a small vacation and received my miners faster...
How is it possible to take this long to deliver something?!!!?! Oh and the "tracking info" makes it seem that the package has not even been received by USPS yet... it just says "electronic shipping info received" like it was entered into a system... and just is sitting on some shelf somewhere now... that cant be the case... right?
USPS does suck unfortunately unless you pay for every bell and whistle. Delivery confirmation is not even technically proof of delivery, they call that "signature confirmation." USPS routinely scans the packages at the office as "delivered" and then loads them on the truck for delivery. This means you can have a package marked as delivered but not actually show up until the next day. i've had that happen to me, two days in a row now....

Of course my neighborhood was being repaved today. So with the car quarantined, I dusted off the bike and made the hilly trek into town to pick up the haul from the post office. Well worth it. So far, miners working as advertised with cgminer 3.1.1. Love the form factor, too. Fun! And so sharable, no pun intended.

Question for Arklan-
You mentioned you have had to replace 5 units. Were these dead on arrival or did they fail from use? I am hoping they were DOA, and my working one is not at risk. Thanks.

And still no device in the mail... If it does not come by Friday of this week I am going to have to assume it was lost in the mail, there is NO WAY it could take over 2 weeks to ship right?

Got mine today. Canada, west coast. No brokerage charges levied by Fedex. Clocking in at 333.5MH/s. I used 50btc pool, any reason not to?

For what it's worth as a data-point, of the 50+1 extra friedcat sent me, I had two defective units that necessitated a re-ship.
None of the 20 I ordered through Arklan had any trouble.
FWIW, all the ones I got from Arklan were Silver, and all the ones I got directly from friedcat were black.

I've used 50btc for a while with no issues. I have them as an alternate in case the pool I use goes down...

My little guy is busy hashing away on my Beaglebone Black. The heatsink is toasty - I have a large fan on it and ordered a couple of those popular USB fans.
Thanks Arklan!
