If you could see the colors of my ankle right now, you d know how i feel about that...  :-D

4 hours later,  all domestics  are shipped. I actually watched the postal guy pick them up.

Internationals: due to my ankle i had to call it a day for now. Since i need to use FedEx or the postal service, and refuse to use the postal service, i'm find a 24 hour  kinks and finish tonight.

I have a lot of talking numbers, but my pc is down stairs,  and I'm not hearing down there until my for apps throbbing. I'll get them out to you all after i rest a bit.

i don't post much, but this space for rent.

Pretty disappointed that mine still hasn't shipped, and being international will have zero chance of getting here before the weekend. I can see why some of you are happy with the results so far, but me and I'm sure a few others, not so much.

The Good News

Units Arrived and Unpacked

All Plugged In

Mining Away Alongside The Avalons

The Bad News

The 10-port Anker hub did not work with my Raspberry Pi (Arch Linux) :/  The RasPi recognizes the hub, but it reported errors in trying to recognize the USB Block Erupters.  Using a different hub, the RasPi recognizes the USB-BEs just fine.  So that's disappointing.  I have all 10 running off my Windows desktop for now, until I can figure out a solution.  I'd probably order and try a BeagleBone Black instead, but I hear it's still unstable.

Quick note: I had to give the sticks a good push to get them plugged all the way in.  It was easy to plug them in enough to receive power, but not enough to connect properly.  Had to give 'em a couple extra Newtons to plug all the way in and function.  Luckily the Anker hub has a blue LED that only lights up when they're connected correctly.

Please use USPS to Canada. SRsly, Fedex/UPS charge brokerage fees USPS does not.

Seconded. I send packages to Canada quite frequently, and have learned that the USPS is far less of a hassle, and much cheaper than either UPS or Fedex.

What a stroke of luck - it would seem that the cables made by Cablez (here on bitcointalk) for the BFL FPGA Singles are a perfect fit for the Anker USB hub, so you can power it off of your power supply.

Edit - make sure you check the polarity of the plug (center positive) before you plug it in - some power supplies are weird.

I'll post results and power consumption shortly after I get my 4 sticks.

Results: The hub works great. It powers a Raspberry Pi with no backfeed issues. I only have 4 sticks, but I have no doubt the hub would run 7 of them, as I opened it up and found 2x 5V/3A regulators.

I plugged it into my Kill A Watt before work this morning. It was reading about 22 watts even. That's a 12V/12A PSU, USB hub, Raspberry Pi, and 4 USB ASICminers.

The 12V PSU is certainly not running very efficiently at such a low load. I should be able to save a few more watts by using a smaller power supply. I'll find a suitable wall-wart and update. I'll take some measurements on the DC side as well, which might be more useful for those who intend to go solar.

i dont know how to do this part.....

start cgminer with the following arguments:
cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COMx
for more than one device: cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COMx -S //./COMy

I'm using cgminer 3.1.1 and it worked on Windows 7 with instructions like the ones af_newbie provided.

Once I had downloaded and installed the driver (http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx), I plugged in the Erupters. After a moment, I could see my 4 miners in the device manager. I've never used Windows 8, but under Windows 7 my 4 Erupters come up as this:

Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM3)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM4)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM5)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM6)

Then using those com numbers, I created a shortcut on my desktop with the following target line:

C:\cgminer\cgminer-nogpu.exe -o http://pool:port -u username.worker -p password --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM3 -S //./COM4 -S //./COM5 -S //./COM6

Works great. Hope this helps.

I used that driver too on a WinXp 32bit, and using that latest version of BFGminer from Luke.   With the simple -S it was able to use my USBees and ModMiner together.

pretty smooth

Did arklan pass out from pain before he could send out tracking numbers?  LOL.

Can't wait to get mine... you all posting pictures is making me jelly... but at the same time you guys figured out all the bugs for me so getting mine running should be a snap!

(speaking of which)

Any update on getting cgminer working in minepeon?  I heard someone post a way to get it to work with BFminer that involved a lot of consul commands...  I imagine maybe by the time I get my miners a new version on minepeon may be out?

Any update on getting cgminer working in minepeon?

Some people have cobbled through a solution to make it work.  As soon as I get mine though I will be releasing a new (tested) MinePeon build.

I have two on the way from arklan and 115 on the way from my group buy (unfortunately I don't get to keep any from my group buy Sad )
