I see, so it really is two miners! I'll get your new bfgminer mod packaged up for MacMiner, thanks for another bfgminer driver My pleasure. I'm sure it'll go through a few reviews but should be included in BFGMiner 4.0. I'm also working on support for the 5-chip GreedSeed devices so hopefully that will be coming sooner-than-later as well.

I've compiled that and added it to the guide now, it should make things a lot simpler. Hopefully someone with a device can offer some feedback! I forgot to ask about -S flags by the way - should -S dualminer:all be set?

I will definitely test out the code... and i may need more assistance since this is my first mining experience... Thanks for everything!

No luck so far—I am running three U1s with MacMiner, and it could be a conflict. My next step is to unplug those and try just the Infinity Mini. It will be a bit before I can.

I don't think they should conflict, but the bfgminer driver is brand new - did you install the FTDI driver?

I did install those drivers, and my Mac sees the device.

It sees the device but it needs those drivers to communicate with bfgminer - if you're running 10.8 or earlier the cgminer and cpuminer should work for you without, but on 10.9 there are conflicting Apple written USB Serial drivers so they won't without unloading those like this: kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDC && kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDCACMData && kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDCACMControl && kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBFTDI.kext to restore them you then restart or run the same command replacing kextunload with kextload

Aha. I am running Mavericks, and I missed the conflict issue, assuming it was already discussed. Will try in a few minutes!

Crap and crap. I unloaded those drivers, but bfgminer doesn't see the Gridseed device...
Wait, I have -S dualminer:all set as a flag. This isn't the DualMiner USB stick, but rather the 5-chip Infinity Mini device. Should I be setting a different flag?

No, cgminer and bfgminer communicate with devices via fundamentally different methods. unloading those drivers will allow the cgminer and cpuminer to work, but you have to install the ftdi drivers for it to work with bfgminer - which will prevent it working with cgminer unless those new drivers too are unloaded

I did install those drivers, and then I reinstalled them just to be sure. So I have the drivers installed and Apple's drivers unloaded. I have -S dualminer:all set as a custom flag in both the FPGA settings and the settings for CG Miner. Current state is that neither CGminer nor bfgminder (via the FPGA window) are seeing the Gridseed Infinity Mini device. For that matter, ls -l /dev/cu.* no longer lists it. GPUminer also doesn't see it, FYI.

best to load those drivers again or just plain restart if you're trying with bfgminer, though I'm not sure whether they specifically would affect this. To try with cgminer you also need to disable the FTDI driver you installed so run
kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDC && kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDCACMData && kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDCACMControl && kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBFTDI.kext && kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/FTDIUSBSerialDriver.kext
Was the device looking something like this
/dev/cu.usbserial-FTWP5BMQ
?
That it's not showing up is a problem. unplugged and replugged it?

It identifies itself as: /dev/cu.usbmodem8024431
That's 100% confirmed, BTW.
Once I unload all of the Apple drivers, that device disappears.
One thing: the drivers installed from <http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm> are labeled only up to 10_7, which I presume means OS X 10.7.
Is that the issue?

Ah I missed this - that would be awesome - do you know whether the gridseed cgminer for dualminer should work with infinity too?

Right now I'm honestly not sure how the individual branding compares to the original hardware. I do know that the code written so far only works (for me) with the USB thumbs, not with the "orb" devices with the big round heat sinks (yet). Those are the only two types of devices I have seen or have access to. So, thumb: done. Round thing: not yet.
