Afraid of August One?

No, I'm not afraid.
After all, I don't think that may things for us, average users, will change.
In my opinion, btc price will not change much.
If we really see some radical change (what I doubt) sill we can move to other crypto currencies and continue to earn profit.
I don't worry much.

instead of opening new thread I would initially ask here if you don't mind
I have all my BTC on Electrum since 2013.
Now this hardfork is coming and I'm not sure what to do.
Please can you tell me if I should quickly download BTC core wallet and transfer all BTC there or should I just leave all BTC on Electrum ?

If there is a bitcoin fork and if there is a split in the network you will be able to claim your coins from both the chains if you are having control of your private key,because having the private key gives you the complete control over your coins and since Electrum is a light weight wallet where you have the private key there is nothing to worry.

2 different bitcoins can happen only if miners wouldn't accept changes. In my words: On August 1st, a change in block will happen (segwit for example) if let's say only 40% of hashing power accept this change (start accepting blocks with segwit) this would result in 2 different Bitcoins. If 51% hash power or more start accepting blocks with segwit this would become longest chain and other one would be erased.
It's up to you to decide which one is better I personally think there must be some changes in transaction fees so i would prefer blocks with segwit.

The miners are most interested in the fact that bitcoin remains stable and not broke. They have a lot of money invested in mining equipment so readily available. I'm sure after August 1 will not change anything.

We are already in July and August 1 is coming...the day when Segwit would start signalling for all and what will happen after this date is something many fear of. Will there be a split and what will happen on the split?

I have already read some assurance that at the current rate things are doing, the possibility for a split is getting remote. Maybe the overarching interest of all stakeholders has already dawned to many.

I think it will be a good day for bitcoin. because bitcoin means gold.so 1st August fair for bitcoin

No doubt that majority of us wants to see something good with bitcoin and this is also the reason why soft fork and hard fork is being seen as the solution to all of our current issues with bitcoin. With this implementation bitcoin price will surely rise up and break out. The problem is what if things goes wrong during implementation and what if bitcoin blockchain will stop working and will go down because of "something" which we dont know yet. what is you tried to check on your bitcoin balance and nothing is showing up or nothing is loading? what will you do?

Hard and soft fork will bed up the price fluctuations by increase the supply and demand of bitcoin more. I don't think that bitcoin will face problem if segwit has been activated now or after August. We don't need to sell the bitcoin now or in future. It doubles the as a years moves up.

No in the event of a split, there will be just one Bitcoin and an altcoin. We know Bitcoin has always been a survivor, so there is really nothing to freak about, just be sure to be in full control of your coins by holding the private keys and all will be well. Won't be a surprise if price dips a bit about that time on account of panic sell off, but that would simply present us an opportunity to buy Bitcoin at cheaper rate again.

My advice is don't be a weak hand and sell your bitcoins. don't believe what you see upfront, not everything is true as they appear. be a stong hand who is not easily shaken.

bitcoin will either go up or down. if it goes down, just buy more because the price will just go back again . imo bitcoin and its community is strong enough to withstand the

negative effects that might occur on the given date.

The impact will affect towards the end of this month, I think bitcoin will return like two months ago where the movement is only played by the market. So far, the news that keeps bitcoin price down makes the bitcoin price higher, I'm part of a community that believes and tries to keep bitcoin stable.

Really appreciate it, i will hold onto it until it hit my target price, now im not afraid for the said august 1. I am now convince to hold and dont sell on panic because bitcoin will surely bounce back, after its a good community.

if bitcoin go down in 1st august it's a good opportunity to buy as long as don't panic about the down of bitcoin price its can be a advantage. I tried to hold bitcoin until 1 august I was very curious on that day.

This is something I will also look for, if the price of bitcoin goes down because people are afraid of what may happen I will take the opportunity to buy as much bitcoin as I can afford and take that opportunity of a lifetime, to buy heavily discounted bitcoin and hold it forever.

Even the price, if affected a great deal, will settle back after some time.  It is not that big of a deal, and no matter what your opinion of the changes, there is nothing that most people can do either way.  If you are scared, either sell out before hand(not suggested) or keep them offline for a day or two around the first.

I think SegWit will get activated. But I do not think this would be a losing war for the Miners. . I reckon they just can't hedge the risk.
