I wonder which is more profitable, 2x GTX 1060 6GB or 1 Vega 56?

I France there is a discount code on RX Vega 56 -> 405€
I bought them this price.
And without too much time to play with I get 37 MH/s on ETH (43 on EXP with smaller DAG) for 150W at wall (something like 140W for GPU after PSU efficiency)

Where did you buy them and how to get the discount code?

Edit: don't bother to answer, found it.

from what I understand here, there is no need to buy a vega 64, as the 56 can reach the same numbers for cheaper !

Using xmr-stak-amd (dev branch).

What is dev branch ?

NB : @Rednow, sorry I only have one single vega for fun, wouldn't make sense to pay for few mh/s more. It's just a pleasure to squeeze the most ... Good luck with the troubles anyway, we all meet some a day or another..

Well, Vega 56 doesn't seem to reach same numbers when dual mining. Kinda far from it in fact.
But if you only plan on running single mining one coin, the Vega 56 seems to be the cheaper card for the same effect at the moment.

We might see better results from Vega 64 in the future tho...

No, Vega 56 does not reach the same numbers as Vega 64.

Vega 56 has the lesser numbers maybe because its memory is possibly slower.   However some can get past that problem, the 56 bios limits the voltage to supply HBM but some have changed the bios and so do not have this limit.   The main difference from 64 to 56 is just shaders which Im not sure is a great deal in hashing performance, Im not sure on that.    If the 56 can be set to 1100 mhz on the hbm2 then either model might not matter, mining will utilise hardware more then the games which are throttled in performance by the large texture data they have to move so conclusions declared for games might not correlate but for sure the cards are close

I got mine on LDLC : https://www.ldlc.com/landing-AR201708160001-AR201708230010.html
405€ with VEGA56 code
shop.hardware.fr was doing an equivalent discount but do not display it (RXVEGA for Vega 64 and RXVEGA56 for Vega 56) --> https://imgur.com/a/qkDhq

but right now a lot of card are out of stock

limited to 1 coupon per account, but I manage to get 4 VEGA56 (405) + 1 VEGA64 (509€) to update a rig

Vega 56 is as capable as Vega 64, at least when it comes to mining Monero:

This is after I have flashed it with Vega 64's BIOS, of course.

How do you reach this number ?
even with my vega 64, I'm lower than 1000mh/s, missing 500 ..

I have blockchain driver (23 august) , and I use MSI afterburner beta 16 (wattman doesn't work , I don't know why so I don't install it, only drivers)
Core clock 1000 , mem clock 1050 , and voltage is locked (unable to ungray it, maybe because of blockchain drivers)

How do you reach this number ?

Scroll back a few pages, basically blockchain drivers + wattman (core as low as possible, mem 1050 or 1100 if stable) + BIOS flash in case of vega 56.

it seems to be the same as my settings !
Any idea why I have not the same results ?

edit : which blockchain driver ? 23august ? and which stak version ? in case the difference would be hidden here !
+I've intensity : 1000, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false and "platform_index" : 0

You intensity is to low.
With blockchain drivers you will go 200+watt without special modding, keep it in mind.

What is your current wattage from the wall from 1 card doing 1500+ h/s?

I encourage y'all to watch buildzoid's video on undervolting. There's definitely some wattman nuances to watch out for. If you're brave enough, there is also some fun to be had with the powertable mods.

As rednoW says, the intensity is too low. Increase it.
