Server grade power supplies can handle the 100% load.

ATX power supplies can't.

That is probably valid.  Regardless, these PSUs in particular sound like jet engines at 100% load.  (That may be okay for some situations.)

I never tried APW3++ at 100% but when I tried at 80% the sound already was like jet engine, I imagine when it's at 100% Smiley

He actually mean't that those HP server power supplies are quite loud at 100% load, which is true.

I have a couple HP 2450W power supplies now.  If you get them near max they whine!!  Using them to power 2 L3+'s and they aren't bad.

I just received my first D3 - I was shocked to see 20GHz average!  Smiley   AND very happily surprised to see that I had the option to control the fan speed!   (50% works perfectly and is much less noisy than the auto-tune S9!)

Just wanted to say "hi" to the thread... I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions.  (i.e., pool questions / firmware / etc.)

is 50 percent safe?

Sounds like a happy man to have a received a D3 miner capable of doing 20MH/s Cheesy Have you checked whattomine.com recently? Hate to break it to you, but your profit is $2 a day and heading down fast!

I'm guessing you're questioning the temps?   The Temp (PCB) averages 64 and the Temp(Chip) about 83.   Since I'm new, I'm just assuming that's an OK range?

Well, yes, happy to have received it - of course, it would have been nice to get it months ago when I ordered it.  Tongue  And, $5/day profit at the current price...  but did you foresee BTC cresting over 7k as it has?   Seems like you dislike  Dash (or D3?) why are you hanging around this thread?

In the "Miner General Configuration"  (http://172.20.1.34/cgi-bin/minerConfiguration.cgi)
I set the "Customize the fan speed percentage" to 50

I've done this on all my S7s and it makes them very reasonable (sound wise).

D3 miner will stop running when the Temp(PCB) exceeds to 85°C, there will be an error message “Fatal Error: Temperature is too high!” shown in the bottom of kernel log page.

Temp(PCB) heat more then 85 will turn off the miner

I'm glad to know there's a safety switch (so to speak) - so my PCB Temps of 64 should be just fine.  ?

Can you elaborate, at least ballpark?  Still waiting on my three D3s coming in the end of November batch and curious about the real-world profitability.

Which pool do you recommend?  It's so odd that some calculators show -$10/month for me, and some show $150/profit month.

I still use granatgas-pool and it was good to me, my 2nd choice is nicehash

Thank you I have joined your pool Smiley.  Can you tell me what command you enter into D3?  I'm a little confused.  I put below but I don't know if it's optimal.

-o stratum+tcp://stratum-us.granatgas-pool.info:1111#xnsub -u <WALLET_BTC_ADDRESS> -p c=BTC
