You do not have to choose. They are both good to invest actually. But I suggest investing more in Ethereum since it is cheaper than Bitcoin. You can buy more of it and can gain more if it triples its value this year. Then try to look for other coins that are lower than $200. There are still lots of potential coins that I am pretty sure will grow this year.

This is the right time to buy the bitcoin in the present situation because the value of bitcoin decreased a lot in the market. So people who wants to buy Eth it is going to be bad idea and buy bitcoin in the present condition.

ITT Most people advise buying either bitcoin or ether. ETH always seems more resistant to pressure. But in any case - to lurch from one extreme to another is a bit shortsighted. Even considering that this is a fairly small amount, why don't you just diversify it into several assets? It's the same elementary rules of financial management - don't put all your eggs in one basket.

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow?  Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

If you invest it and wait for 5years will your $3000 would be multiplied many time's for its my own prediction but we know that bitcoin or even eth for almost a year from now will be more precious. And that would my basement for prediction that i have, because we all don't know yet what will be the tomorrow's come for us users.
