And a good project, but in my humble opinion, should be used in small elections, because the state "countries" is almost impossible to use this technology.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Important
We've identified a bug in GUI wallet version 0.1.4, which prevents the wallet from shutting down properly.
The wallet stays running on background even if you close its window.

Users are strongly encouraged to update to GUI Wallet version 0.1.5 as soon as possible.
Download here:
https://github.com/Tomas-M/VoteCoin-wallet/releases

If you are currently running version 0.1.4, click the close button, wait for the window to close, then copy the new release 0.1.5 or newer over your existing installation and run votecoin.exe. Then you can close the window again, and it will properly shutdown the wallet.

We apologize for the inconvenience

Good day!
Please explain how to upgrade from version 0.1.4 to 0.1.5. You only need to replace the wallet.dat?

Never replace the wallet.dat. That's the file that gives you access to your coins. Replace the .exe.

Its on their site:

"If you upgrade from previous version of GUI wallet, feel free to copy this new release over your old install, overwriting all files. Then erase file votecoin.conf in the "VoteCoin" directory, it will be re-created for you on first start, and a new internal password will be generated for better security."

Always have a back up of your wallet.dat and then try new things.

As I know new wallet (vanilla from Github) doesn't contain wallet.dat and there is no replace.

But I really suggest to copy wallet.dat in a safe place beforehand.

Yes, I copy wallet.dat to a usb stick and store it somewhere away from the computer - wallet.dat stores the keys to access your info on the blockchain so it doesn't have to be an up-to-date copy if you need to recover your coins, but you can hide it away in a safe and top secret place and not worry about what happens if it all goes bits up on the PC. You can also get one of those encrypted USB stick things and put it on that if you want to password protect the beast...

To spread the net hashrate between different pools, its good for the coin, stability and some other things.

Why is the OP silent on the amount of premine for this coin?

NEVERMIND it is in a JPG file that doesnt load quickly and cannot be Googled easily. 4.54% premine

Over 12 million coins premined for the creators of this coin, at current rate that is 27.5BTC to around $233,000! WTF. Seriously? For a copy/paste of open source code and building a website?

No wonder VOT has such a low hashrate even being older than BTCZ by a month or two. Its not even on whattomine yet as a coin.

Is BTCZ the only real Bitcoin alternative with a real dedicated development team in the entire Equihash market?

Dev team needs those coins to support the use of such a new feature in the near future, by giving some of them as bounty and rewards when the voting mechanism is functional (info dev confirmed me), thats why the premine. For example promoting this project on facebook (share it), will give you a VOT reward so you can start USING it. This coin is not designed as a money alternative, but a more complex functional funding and voting integrated mechanism. The dev behind it doesn't seem to be a multi corp style business but more a passionate team that works on this without other alternatives of being funded other than the project itself.

The Dev team needs funds to do all this, to promote everything and to develop everything. This started based on Zcash as a "copy paste" project, but the work done to improve zcash and adapt it to their purpose if an entirely different thing. This is not just a zcash clone. It just uses it so it can work based on the only truely anonymous mechanism , with zero knowledge proofs, it is an alternate use of the zcash tech.

When all cryto money alternatives drop and rise and become uncertain, a coin that can actually be used will be much more stable. I am hoping the dev will manage to implement the features we discussed and allow me to announce them properly, till then i can't tell more about what's to come.

All i can say for now is that i believe in the potential of this project and its a considerable share of my crypto portfolio, not because i want it to grow and sell, but because i want to start using it as soon as possible in my gaming sites network. I won't give links here so this won't sound as advertisement, but it is a significant list of projects i plan to adapt to use votcoin.

More info from me will come ONLY when dev will confirm i can discuss those features publicly, and probably at the same time the site will get updated presenting the true power of this coin.
