I would say look at the top-10 coins, chose one or two, take a more deep look at their teams, their plans and the project as a whole. Invest in 4-5 coins for a long-term hodl.

in my opinion the best long term invest is tezos.
its chain and it project is awesome. it is only 0.43 now. it will go to 10 dollars in short term.

During bear market is time for development. There are tons of "scam" coin, but there are a few with really low market cap right now which have great products in beta phase or that will be launching during the year.

I would also take a look at the most established projects (those in the top 50-70) and learn about them. I'm trying to invest in low market cap projects (less than 10m) which have great development, but I have also a safer bet waiting for the next bull run, which in my case is Populous.

I think the most promising and undervalued coin right now is Tomochain. You can see some compare with Ethereum here:

Their CEO is a very experienced man (who was a founder of 2 very succesfull projects - NEM and NXT). They launched maiinet and have much more TPS than Ethereum or EOS or any other existed projct right now.

When talking about long-term investments I think a good altcoin is ethereum indeed but after all there are still many other altcoins that are also good for the long term and that all depends on each choice

Any coin may turn that one indeed. Five ten years is pretty big period of time for crypto and you never sure which one will bring max profit to the owner, maybe such coin even didn't appear yet! One of my "maybes" is Litecoin.

Even some of the coins at the top of the market are not worthy of our investment or to be held for the long term, just look at bitcoin cash which was a coin trying to say it was the original bitcoin, or tether which is not even a cryptocurrency since it is backed by dollars, so investing in the top 10 coins is not enough, you need to see if the coins are any good before investing in them.

Well with respect to tokens you must be very careful, because eventually in many cases and according to the project, they usually have life only when the project is in promotion and when it is in its distribution stage, after a certain time, if you do not change your tokens you will stay with them and with almost no value.

Nowadays you should let yourself be carried by altcoins that are of a good level, for example a coin that you can keep for 5-10 years can be Ethereum and Monero, because if you see their structure is very similar to bitcoin, apart ETH has a certain ramification with the projects, there is always entry of money and movements geandes, and Monero has a great commercialization, because it represents the most stable currency in terms of anonymity, and if you can add that it is impossible to track, is usually much more attractive to people.

Bitcoin is already known as the king of cryptocurrency and ethereum itself is an altcoin that is under bitcoin so the two coins need not be doubted and it is very good for long-term investment
