It's better to check all the available information about the coins thoroughly if choose to hold them for long. Coins alike ETH, LTC which has been proven on the market as a reliable cryptocurrencies backed up by the nice dev teams would be among the preferable ones. Also it will be wise to diversificate a portfolio with some of the new and more cheap coins or tokens which could give a significant profit in case of a long-term investing. When choosing among such coins or tokens, working related product will be an important sign for making a right choice and minimizing risks of being scammed.

I don't have experience yet in altcoins trading. But in stock market holding 2-3 years works and often times increase the value from year 1. I think is good experiment to do since almost of altcoins is going upward even it is subject of volatility.

I would advise you to invest in ethereum, because ethereum will be the most promising and safest investment. By holding ETH for the next 2 years of course this will have a chance to profit from the that investment, and I believe even though the current price of ETH is decreasing but in the next few years it will experienced a significant increase. all these cryptocurrencies seems good. infact i believe any currency that is stable and have spend some time can be hodl. I mean it all depends on bitcoin, if it moves up, it'll drag all the coins. so indirectly you are holding bitcoin.
