Just hold BTC and ETH for the long term, and altcoins for the short term, don't just rely to the ALtcoins.
you need to trust BTC too because it gives a huge pump sometimes .but i know it will be risky so you still got your own decisions

For me, it's EOS. This is also a platform but trying to address the scalability issues of Ethereum. Very strong team. This team already having experience with other block chain network so it will be a huge advantage when you rebuild a brand new platform to address scalability issues.

Holding altcoins for 2 to 3 years is a good idea. I will invest the money which I can afford to lose. It's better to invest than not doing anything at all. The reward will be much bigger than the risk. I will buy different altcoins to minimize the lost.
