I think it will survive until people believes in the technology. Since bitcoins can last indefinitely in theory, bitcoins will be relevant if there are people that are willing to buy and sell it. The 21,000,000 bitcoin cap is just the number of bitcoins that will go out in circulation. The part of mined block, is just actually rewards. Miners can still continue mining blocks even without rewards. I guess that's a good thing for us, since our transactions will still be written in the blockchain. But I don't think I'll live to see that day since it's so far away.

The only honest answer is: for as long as two people or more believe Bitcoin has use and value.

The schedule for block rewards is set to extend out to the year 2130 so bitcoin mining (in its true sense) can continue for that long as long as there are transactions to produce work for.

Maybe an equally good question is: what could end bitcoin? If we think about it from that perspective we can identify what threats exist to seriously harm bitcoin.

One such risk is Governments. They can ban the use of bitcoin among retailers which would seriously diminish the opportunity for adoption growth.

What else?

It is hard to predict with certainty, but usually if something is going to fail it is during its early years. Since Bitcoin is approaching 10 years it is probably past that hurdle. I would think it will probably be around for the next 10-20 years easily, then it may risk being supplanted by some other coin or even technology. It probably won't go away completely, just become  not as relevant at some point.

Understood, me too as personal seen those too far to think about, but just pretend it because when we're really comfort and enjoy the thing what we have learned here then will gone just because there are some naughty stuff break everything.

I think it will survive for a long time. For a century and another centuries to come. Though it may undergo numerous hard forks, but i think Bitcoin will survive because i have read an article that this cryptocurrency is a long term type of digital coin.

it is quite difficult to predict the presence of bitcoin. however, according to me, it will survive for as long as many people still believe and use it. the more sophisticated technology, the more popular it will be.

No one knows the answer in this question. There's a lot of opinion or theory that we can get with this question and in my opinion, bitcoin will last in decades because of the innovation of technology and a lot of people will know about this and chances are, many of us will invest into this once they know how bitcoin works. Yes, there are risks in bitcoin but risk is common in any situation.

Maybe it will not last for too long because the market is so volatile, in the future there will be altcoin that will replace bitcoin which is possible.

There are many similar questions like this, and I can say that if countries such as china continue to ban and pressures, that will soon happen with btc.

I think it will surely survive if the people or the bitcoiners still believes in bitcoin no matter what happens, even though the price will increase or dicrease, high or low. Because sometimes high demand is a better and a very strong foundation for bitcoin. Well, ofcourse there are big possibilities to avoid those things that bitcoin can make make to survive. I think that there is no way to bitcoin to face bankruptcy because people will love bitcoin today and they still love this until in the future.

Bitcoin remains alive until people use Bitcoin. It is not possible to guess. It may be tomorrow Bitcoin market will fall. Again, It may also be that tomorrow's the price of Bitcoin will go double. Think Positive and feel good.  Smiley

bitcoin will survive while there is internet network in your area. bitcoin is always trusted by people because bitcoin has helped the economy of the poor. if bitcoin someday decreases, it will be fixed by bitcoin lovers.

I highly suggest you do more reading, this question has been asked and bitcoin has been doubted too many times before. Bitcoin is here to survive and thrive. There is a real world use to bitcoin that will potentially disrupt the world does financing and it is slowly growing in adoption everyday. At the same time, there isn't any way to turn off bitcoin because it is decentralized. The best chance you have is to shut down the internet itself.

Bitcoin will technically survive forever. It is kept running by nodes all over the world. It cannot just go down at some point unless there is a catastrophic world event like an asteroid or something of that nature. It would require something like that because otherwise there are always going to be people with nodes running somewhere in the world, thus keeping the Bitcoin network alive.

bitcoin will survive forever because it is use now all over the world. it will not disappear because all people love it now, because when they need to buy items and pay bills they dont need to go out they need only smartphone and internet to transfer the payment.

Bitcoin is the most valuable altcoin of its time and its influence is really great so it can last for 50 years which is possible.

I wouldn't say that Bitcoin is going to be around forever, because there is always a chance that someone will try to go after it and try to prevent any of the current power structures from shifting, unless it is in their favor and they have something to gain from the rise of bitcoin. Which is something that there might be a lot of instances for someone to try and use, but the chances of those in governmental positions going after Bitcoin to keep themselves secure completely outweighs the chance of someone trying to "break in" to the entire global power structure.

We do not know how long the bitcoin will last, as long as there is internet in the world and miners then bitcoin forever can survive. From the beginning the price is very low but there is still investment so the price does not really determine whether they stop or not because as long as there are bitcoin and other coins then they survive.
