Civic offers something that sounds a little like this project and they already have a working product. Will be a tough competition between the two of them.

Haha, even if both platforms are great, there's plenty of room for each of them. Bitcoin is already the most popular cryptocurrency, why have another one right?

They are similar at a glance but when you look more into detail you will see that selfkey is using a more refined and granular approach.

Agreed. I like self key quite a bit, I think its a good point that 2 similar projects can easily co-exist. There's enough marketcap space
Yes, there is more than enough space for this project and competition is always welcome
The fact that there is already another product in use is going to make the team have to work harder to improve the product if they want to stand out.

It has already been mentioned many times,  but again:

CIVIC is a mere Email and Phone verifier,
SelfKey is ID

Hope this article helps you gaining some insight Smiley

https://blog.selfkey.org/what-makes-selfkey-different-from-its-competitors-ad58e74f4984

I know selfkey is presenting more than civic but i wasn't aware that civic is that shallow. Email and phone verifier? Really? Is it the all fuss about?

Yes,  Civic is a pumped disappointment

Looks like Estonian e-residency team aims to offer some competition to selfkey project in some undefined timeframe, as the whole thing is still an idea. They are planning to offer kyc procedures to all Estonian e-residents. There's more to it actually, but Selfkey will probably beat them to the mark tho.

read more here if interested:

At SelfKey side, noone checks for Authenticity. SelfKey merely provides the underlying technology and framework, but will NEVER check or store your Data.
Instead, fractioned bits of your ID (which is stored on the users device only) will be hashed and then through the blockchain sent to a certifier that participates in the network.

Kindly refer to this Article and its graphics that illustrate this process quite nicely:
https://blog.selfkey.org/the-key-economy-d7fbc9efc270

I hope that helps! Smiley

That is, your service includes a universal wallet for ETH and tokens, and also the ability to store personal data there. The verification of personal data will be carried out by those to whom they will be sent.
Agree it is very convenient) Pass the identity check 1 time, when registering. And then participate in all ICO without restrictions and long checks)

I am surprised at the successful of such a seemingly simple project. It is enough to make a universal purse for ETH and tokens, add there the possibility of downloading documents and collect at the same time almost 15 million dollars. An amazing success.

I'm amazed as well at how well this project is doing. ICO's that are successful on this level are fewer and fewer.

For how long will the ico last?

The pre-sale ends on 24 December. The public sale is from 15 January to February 1st.

but what if all the tokens are sold before? will the normal sale start immediately?

and well 1000$ are just like 1.3 eth now Smiley not that big amount to contribute imo

The pre-sales is capped, but yes, most of the tokens have been sold already. Does not leave many tokens for the actual token sale January.

$14,842,657 sold
$15,840,000 pre-sale cap
$21,780,000 token sale cap

Why they have cap for pre-sale? They can raise all money on pre-sale I think  Huh

They could probably, but I assume they want to raise a bit more money through an normal ICO too. Nothing wrong with this in my eyes, a lot of ICOs have a pre-sale and normal ICO.

Competition is very good! There will be constant updates, innovations, bonuses and much more, in the fight for the client!

By what I heard that civic is just a platform to verify the Email and Phone. Not the complete KYC platform.

Pre-ICO is sold out, great work team!

Four days before the scheduled end, that's totally awesome. I hope the public sale will be as successful. I just wish it would start right now, so we don't have to wait till January 15 to invest.

Purely based on that comparison, if Civic has a $190 million market cap just for e-mail and phone verification, Selfkey must be able to get a billion market cap.

Goo to hear the difference. So, Selfkey will be an all in one platform, right?

Yes they are.  I am no expert on the topic,  but after reading their whitepaper and blogs,  it seems to me that they are pretty much thinking of everything and also having a more developed product that Civic.

Btw I just found this,  a direct comparison between SelfKey and Civic:

https://www.theodysseyonline.com/identity-transunion-services-3944?altdesign=socialux
Thank you for the article! I understood for myself the key factors of the difference between these companies. If SelfKey realizes everything conceived, it will surpass its competitors.

It's strange. Why is this value attached to e-mail, telephone, that the capitalization of 190 million ... And if still personal documents, then a billion. Then Datum will also have a capitalization of one billion?

I have looked some more into Civic, maybe you overlooked something but I do not think that is not a fair comparison.

If someone only wants to know your e-mail and phone number, then you need to only verify those. But if more personal info is requested, for example when opening a bank account, you can scan your passport into Civic or link a 3rd party Identity Partner, as Civic calls them, such as a government agency. Or as SelfKey calls them, a Certifier.
