Now will be the best time to buy MEC.  The weak hands are finally able to panic sell as their transactions go through since we are solving blocks faster.  Try to pick up some up if you can, I surely will.  Kimoto is working on an adjustment to the difficulty algorithm but he wants to make sure it is not something that can be exploited.  So he will take his time and do it right.  Now that things are picking up with the network again, he has a month to perform proper testing and ensure that Megacoin will be better than ever.

I am having the same issue as MobGod during compiles - Ubuntu as well...but he's tested on multiple distros including Mint (I've been reading Wink )

g++ -c -O2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/home/gr33k/megacoin-0.8.994-source/src -I/home/gr33k/megacoin-0.8.994-source/src/obj -DUSE_IPV6=1 -I/home/gr33k/megacoin-0.8.994-source/src/leveldb/include -I/home/gr33k/megacoin-0.8.994-source/src/leveldb/helpers -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/newsmessage.d -o obj/newsmessage.o newsmessage.cpp

sendalert.cpp:63:18: error: ‘Sleep’ was not declared in this scope

make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs...

**

I also see that we've been asking for fixed source code for a while - Any news or ETA?

Thank you - I really like MEC and have the most coins mined for this one - I'd love to see it working. Trying to setup a mining pool with mmcfe-ng Wink
i had fixed that for myself opening that file and changing "Sleep" to "sleep" on that line. that will happen with several files Smiley

He made a post about looking into it here.
and @cryptohunter, he's right, people are panic selling and with the rise of bitcoin value, megacoin price went down bigtime.

ZOMG case sensitive OS FTW -

Did this for sendalert.cpp and sendnews.cpp -

Change Sleep(500); to sleep(500);

Silly typo Wink Good catch - Thank you! It compiled finally - MobGod (and others) here is the likely fix for your compiling issue Smiley

Hello, Been lurking for awhile.  I jumped in last night on the MEC pool over at multipool.  I only have 1.1Mhash right now but every bit helps right!

Just curious.....was multipool not one of the causes of getting stuck at such a high difficulty (yes, aside from perhaps a non-ideal retarget situation)?   If so, and your a supporter of the coin, why would you be continuing to mine at such a pool? Personally, I'm not sure why anyone who is trying to back a specific coin or two would be supporting said pool, given its attitude towards coin supporters and alt-coins in general, but to each their own.   If it was unrelated to them, then sorry to multipool!

Profit-Switching Pool w/ Vardiff -> http://hashco.ws  Optionally keep the alts we mine or auto-trade for BTC. In addition can be paid out in any of: 365, AC, BC,  BTC, C2, CINNI, COMM, FAC, HBN, MINT, PMC, QRK, RDD, WC, XBC

You are correct that it was Multipool that I believe almost killed MEC.
The unfortunate thing is that MEC Multipool was the only pool that was stable for me.
I never used the Multipool port that changes based on profitability. I'm 100% invested in MEC both mining and investment wise.
I have only used the dedicated MEC Multipool.
I'm thinking of switching over to meg.smalltimeminer.com if we can get some more people there and it's stable.
I've been through 3 or 4 pools, and they have all shutdown or been abandoned.
The dedicated MEC Multipool has been the most stable for me unfortunately.

Well, I used another pool before. And then more and more people joined, and I got more and more disconnects and losing shares that way. Moved to smalltimeminer and been mining happily since. Until the difficulty thing. But it's okay-ish now. MEC Account Balance says 6 MECs confirmed and 54 unconfirmed. Nowhere near 700 a day, from before the half-ing and at much lower dificulty, but that's never coming back right...

Yea, it's probably never coming back. Neither are the low prices that I bought at like .00001. Oh the good ole days. Grin
I'm mining at meg.smalltimeminer.com now. Looking forward to ethought's new pool coming in a week. Looks promising!

I have no issues, definently make a .conf file. The man above posted some working peers.
