If we look at trend; 1000$ value = 9.4.2014
How did you calculate that?

What is your explanation concerning the 102$ sell on btc-e?

Why should I have an explanation for that?  There's a chance it represented a failure of some software somewhere but remember this is also a very thin market in a potentially panic-inducing situation; it might just be a fluke.

I think it's likely to be a fluke, in fact.  Somebody posted a "sell at any price" order in a thin market. Or possibly, he intended to put a limit of $1020 on the price, but fatfingered the data entry and missed the last zero.   Either way, he happened to hit a one-in-a-million hole where the buy offers higher than $102 had been fulfilled, and some clown who posted what ought to have been a "joke" buy order got ridiculously lucky. The seller is probably still beating his head on the floor.

Possible explanations :

-A human error
-"the plausible explanation is that a bunch of long positions were forcefully liquidated during a margin call. this caused ridiculous market orders to be executed." Additionally, the total market depth on those two platforms is not spectacular, so "only" about 8000 coins were needed for these two spikes."(Appetersson)
-Conspiracy theory to weaker Bitcoin
-A big sell order to activate automatic limit losses and profit from it

Bitcoin will probably trade in a fairly narrow zone between $500 and $800 for a few months and then inch upwards in the fall, most likely breaking $1000+ by yearend 2014 again.

I'm seeing infrastructure and support among merchants broaden.  In addition to overstock.com, I'm seeing places that run remittance services taking it up, I'm seeing it at 7-11's in Mexico, I'm seeing bitcoin ATM's popping up in places, I'm seeing legislative actions that specifically declare it to be 'a legal form of money' in California, etc.

Crucially, I saw overstock.com's financial filings where they credit bitcoin transactions with saving them over a million dollars in credit card processing fees.  Other merchants are going to notice that, and they're going to follow where the money leads.

Right now the price hasn't yet reflected the good news because we're still dealing with bad news; Gox and the tx malleability scare.  But the bad news is all just one-week news, and the good news is all infrastructure and other progress that will continue to do the value proposition good for years.

So, I'm reading the next week or maybe two as my buying opportunity; as soon as we go for a month or two without new bad news, I expect the good news will get noticed, and the new higher rate of use and acceptance to drive the price higher.  Momentum will take it briefly over $1500, with a drop back to around $1250 or so as the buying surge halts.

Of course I could be wrong.  So could anybody.

There is no doubt BTC will continue to skyrocket, the time frame is always the hard part and also the conflicting factors. On the one hand we only had great media coverage in the last three months with more and more  normal, non-geek types buying some, but we also have technical issues like the blockchain taking FOREVER to download and the wallet really not being friendly for upgrades. Most computer users HAVE NO CLUE how to work with files and it's too complex for them. Now we have a person or group screwing with the transactions to add confusion. But, I think it will keep rising just due to the awesome trend graphs being made known and the fact that more and more online companies are accepting it. Read that Brazzers is accepting it now to add to amagimetals, overstock, tigerdirect, etc.  Coinbase really helps too, but the incidents of taking money out of people's account when they should not, do not help. Also, fiat currencies are destined to lose value and that will help crypto, BUT if we go back on the gold standard, as rumored, that will hurt us as the USD will again become "real". Who knows, it's all an educated guess crapshoot.  lol

Now the question would be, will the bitcoin price reach $10,000 one day?

A lot of people think so here:http://d.pr/tzlI

This guy bets 57 BTC on it :O

30-11-13 20:40    Yes    99`886    57.00000000    13Pko    /    1K4Fs

if he bets this touch 10,000 then I am feeling sorry for him because its not going to touch this figure in 2014

This prediction market bet does not function like a regular bet.

It's actually a derivative in disguise. Betting "No" acts as an insurance policy against Bitcoin not reaching $10,000. Depending on how much of your total holdings you bet on no, this could actually operate like a put option.

As such the distribution of the bets does not necessarily correspond to the actual beliefs of the betters.
