However a switch that turns all amounts into real time dollar amounts would be cool.

There's a Chrome extension that does this (among other things).

I dont get how people can feel sorry for such a fake(?) story, when there so much worse things happen every day. Like  in the philipines right now. Go donate there, not for this Guy who is selfaware and master of his own body. He chose to do so, it wasnt natures force that made him do that.

While I appreciate your statement, your line of thinking is flawed (and I hate it).

There are indeed really bad things happening everywhere, but that doesn't mean you only have to care for the worst and ignore everything else.

It seems that I am the only one feeling sorry, as I was the only one donating.

And about Philippines, how do you know that I haven't donated already?
Here, for anyone interested in donating for the tragic events there with bitcoin: https://bitme.com/donate

His written English isn't consistent with that of a supposedly impoverished pole. There are easy (i.e. forced) spelling mistakes in sentences that are grammatically correct. Also 'not a penny' is an English saying, which he probably would never have even heard in Poland.

Doog, is implementing variable risk for investors still on your list or is it rejected?

I hope it is, it would get me to invest on justdice instead of other sites.

It's on the list, but I'm not making much progress through the list at all.  Hopefully in a week or two things will have settled down IRL and I'll have more time for working on the site.  Currently we're just about keeping up with support issues.

In other news, the site just hit a new record high profit for the first time since September:

I did a mini-giveaway of ten free bitcents, one each to the first 9 people to ask for it in the chat when we hit the new profit, and one to the guy from Poland who lost a bunch.  Smiley

You're the 2nd person to mention this since I had the idea a few days ago.  It's funny how these things happen.  I was in a pub watching people pay Keno, and realised that the combination of frequent small wins and the dream of hitting a big win is what keeps them playing.

It would be good to be able to allow people to play multiple odds per roll, with a few preset combinations, and the option to build your own as well.

That is indeed an excellent idea !
I had though of using '1','2','3',.. keyboard keys as shortcuts to presets of playlines templates, but letting people do combinations in a single roll seems insane !

The copyright applies to the pays and probability of the slots? U can create the grabber for the most popular Playtech, Microgaming, NetEnt, Marvels slots and the template named "like the Fantastic Four", "like the Hulk" and etc. or create a just-dice templates thread.

I received this message yesterday:

Quote
Hi Doog,

I'm suro(122865)

I've lost big yesterday - a little bit too much.
[...]

Since I don't have a way to contact investors individually, I asked him about posting his message here.  He agreed.

At first I thought that posting this story here was a nice thing to do, such as "hey yes we take money away from gamblers, but when they go broke maybe we are kind", but thinking about it a bit more... it doesn't add up.

1. if he won instead, he likely would be very wealthy now: risk vs. reward, why did he get the possibility of having the reward, if we back up his risk now that he knows he has lost? If he won, do you think he would similarly donate all his money to charity? Doubt it.

2. if you feel sorry for him, well, divest. Your being invested means you are being fine with screwing people, it's not this occasional charity that would make you feel better.

3. if you really feel like doing charity, then give it to a gamblers supporting/awareness group instead: I guess there must be somewhere some group trying to educate people in not doing stupid bets like this. Donating to such a group could be beneficial (at least in theory) to all potential gambler-losers, instead to just one who managed to arise your pity.

Sorry if I'm being harsh, but a few days ago I was just considering divesting because I hate gambling, as I'm torn between the "it's their own choice to give me free money" vs. "this should never happen, and I'm part of the problem instead of part of the solution".

Sorry for this post, I really appreciate the work doog is doing, he has managed to create the fairest gambling site so far, still... being the fairest is not enough, apparently.
I still have to decide if I want to still be part of it or not.

Why not using tor or a vpn with a new account, if you start losing because your ip "hit the radar".

No, I'm with you 100%.  I struggle with the same issues.

On the one hand Just-Dice is demonstrably fair.  Players can be sure they're getting fair rolls, and a low house edge.  They know they're going to be paid out if they win, that we're not going to "disappear" with their balance, and all that good stuff.

But on the other hand, the site is over 7000 BTC up from people losing their coins.  Some of those people couldn't help themselves.

The libertarian in me says "that's their own fault - they should take responsibility for their decisions", and yet it still feels bad when I get the sad emails telling me how badly the loss has hit them.

So I can kind of excuse myself with a "if it wasn't Just-Dice, they'd go elsewhere and lose".  But that's not necessarily true.  Especially for the people who come to invest, wouldn't otherwise even look at a gambling site, and then play and lose.  And so I'm torn.

In other news, the last 24h or so has seen massive amounts of activity on the site, with the biggest whale since nakowa appearing, and a new 3k BTC of investment also being added to the bankroll.  Here's this week's chart so far:
