This is why users cannot sync without adding direct connections via nodes or port-forwarding.Advise developers re-compile QT client with UPnP dependencies enabled as the ports used by Globalcoin/Litecoin/Bitcoin are usually closed by default on most modems/routers. This would not be a version or code change, just enabling a feature when compiling/building the current QT client that should have been enabled to begin with.
UPnP (universal plug and play) resolves connection issues by allowing devices/applications to automatically instruct port-forwarding on compatible modems/routers.
Most modems/routers have UPnP support and so re-compiling the client to have UPnP enabled is highly recommended. Users will connect, sync and strengthen the network without needing to muck around with port-forwarding or addnodes.
UPnP is enabled by default for pretty much every other cryptocoin, guessing it was just mistakenly disabled when compiling the latest release?
Will be added in the next update, which is being worked on and should be released soon
