Update:

First H-boards are off the production line! I'm very happy and excited about this! It's looking like we'll be able to ship everything in time!

Quite an achievement, respect!

Make my day! Say thanks if you found me helpful Smiley BTC Address --->

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Great job, really amazing.

Punin, quick question: If I pre-order now a 400GH unit for October, can you give an accurate estimation of the week when it will be deliver?

I'm trapped now in BFL and Avalon chips pre-order nightmare... I would like to know what I can expect.

Cheers

P.D.: Please don't answer me 'in two weeks'... ;-)

Well half a month then Smiley
Seriously, if someone can see the future there is much more than 'accurate estimation' one can do.
I am sure, if you can accurately predict the date at which the chips will arrive and the broads will be printed and populated with all the required components (received in time or when they are), Punin will be able to give accurate estimation, but for the future there are just rough expectations ... there are no reasons for delays right now, but this doesn't mean that he lied if there are some latter.
Producing 5 or 10 boards is not like producing 1-10k especially if you don't know is it 1k or 10k

I'm under the impression that BitFury, unlike other ASIC manufacturers, does not oversell. But I've been wrong before (with other companies)...

PCBs are not problem. I still considering the purchase of chips. But we have no guarantee that Metabank or other large customer does not put hands on the majority produced chips.
In effect at October  we will be in the same situation as it is today with Avalon. I do not know which is worse, do business with Chinese people or the Russians?

Punin, can you give a guarantee that the ordered chips will go to the customer on time and in the right order, since most of the product from your shop with August delivery was moved to a shop in the US and is no longer available to us ?

The difference between a company A and a company B in mining hardware will not be just the GH they can deliver... but when they can deliver and how accurate are these estimations.

Update:
I still believe we will be shipping everything as promised, apart from possibly exceeding specs by 25% on the power consumption side.

Is the hardware still capable of this? Any problems that come along with that (except for a higher electricity bill of course)?

Quote
I'm also working together with Foofighter to produce casings for these units, ie. boxes with fans Smiley I have doubts we will have them available in time for August shipments though Sad

Will they come for free for orders that timely make it, like october orders? So the ones who ordered in august will only get the basic kit (without housing, fans), they are just unlucky, correct? Smiley (Nothing wrong with that)

Thanks for those updates, it is most appreciated! Until now you are doing a lot better than your competition. Please don't rest on your laurels just yet Wink

I expect september to be quiet in terms of what's being produced. We know we should be getting more chips in sept/oct '13. We can prepare everything else in advance, so when we get the chips, production can start rolling quickly (we can book a slot for PCB assembly). Unfortunately the IC fab + IC packaging part of the equation can be unpredictable and can cause delays from time to time. This is why I can say october, but nothing more precise. If all goes as planned (and as promised to us by our manufacturing partners), I believe it's theoretically possible to start shipping october units in first half of october.

We honor our promised timetables to our bulk chip customers so much, that we have set a self-imposed fine for missing the dates promised.

I don't know if I want to do business with someone with such prejudice based on some racial or cultural stereotypes. I'm half russian and I like chinese. Maybe you'll enjoy doing business with a  100% USA company instead?

You are making strange conclusions here. We did not have much chips in august to begin with. Those that we had were pretty much split 50%-50% between me and Dave.

I meant this in a good way Smiley It should use LESS power that original 400W.

This will be a separate product in the shop. Not all people will want such a case. Not all will want it assembled.

Just ordered some more H-boards  Grin
No VAT is charged when ordering from Switzerland, great that you could make it work!

Niko, could you please check my previous order #335? I paid VAT on that one which I shouldn't have. You mentioned in the first post that people who incorrectly had to pay VAT will be refunded...

Other than that, looking good!

punin, could you tell me what to do now?
I'd placed and paid for an August 25 GH Miner Starter Kit.
Never got any conformation about that order.
I opened a ticket and mailed several times weeks ago.
But never got any answer.

My mistake was leaving the box "create account" unchecked.
But even so, it shouldn't affect the process of ordering.

Update

Guys - Les received the boards today and ... they have a problem. The fab dropped 2 of our layers, producing a 2-layer PCB (no internal interconnects).  We identified the problem immediately, got it fixed, and the fab is now expediting new PCBs on a 5-day turn.  We are seeking to expedite each additional step this is going to take, but we *will* lose 3 - 5 days here (and 10's of thousands of $$$)

Steps we are taking:
-2-day turn verification rig in production now
-send a team member to China to in-person test this rig
-expedite all stages of PCB production, assembly & delivery

Since we will be right up against our retail delivery timeframe, we are going to have to use the boards for filling retail product.  Due to this, Tytus has announced an increased hashrate supply to our investors of 200TH total, to be deployed in the next two months cumulatively (not all at once at the end).

We are as upset at the delay/fakap as you are I'm sure.  This is one of the side affects of pushing such a fast track project, but we are making it right.  Believe me we want this stuff hashing as much as anyone and we are pulling out all the stops to get it done.

The pico status report can be seen here: https://picostocks.com/docs/index/19

As you can see, we've hit a setback unfortunately. Luckily we identified this in time (before all chips were soldered to non-working boards). It'll take ~2 days to produce the boards, but up to 5 days to ship them to europe, so I might be going to China to test them on location to save time. We might find someone locally to do this also, but if I go there I'll be able to take some pics for you. I sincerely apologize for this delay. We're working hard to keep the delay to minimum.

Does running 400 Gh engine. I want to buy right now and not in October. I would give so much money for something that does not exist. If there is such a machine worth and more to give, but not a chimera.
Email me, I'm from Europe and are only interested in machines that work with invoice and guarantee the price will be negotiated.

Punin, I noticed that you are no longer selling raw chips, is that going to change or you'll stick to selling equipment only?
