Am I the only one that really wishes for off-exchange shares for better anonymity? When I'm raking in my massive ActiveMining divs I'd like to avoid the whole bitfunder -> weexchange extra layer of trust thing.
When Ken makes me rich I don't want anyone to know!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

You could find someone to buy your shares off market. BitFunder allows you to transfer your shares direct to their account. Of course, you might want to arrange escrow  Wink

I don't want to sell my shares, I want to divorce them from my identity and receive divs at a secure address that I've generated offline.

I have to agree that the weexchange thing is a bit annoying, but I just use it as a transition platform. You don't need to be verified to transfer BTC via weexchange, and can remain anonymous.

Ok, I got you. My Weexchange is unverified, I consider it a mildly annoying stepping stone to get my BTC out to my wallet.  As for anonymity, I need to research mixers some more  Grin

Oh my god really? Its an approximation. Just like KNC says they need  $3.5 mil for their NRE, Active Mining needs $1 mil for their NRE. It might actually be $1,000,930.54 USD but the only place we need to read $1,000,930.54 everytime is in a financial statement.

In summary, the $1 mil is for non recurring engineering

Why does it have to be exactly 1.000.000$? And isn't it possible to start the process right now with what is available? Does something have to be payed for with that exact 1m$?

Because with $1M Ken can just say "Here it is! $1M raised in less than a month! Let's negotiate an even better deal and ActM's transition to VIP customer now!" Grin

Yes really but it could also be 950k or 900k which is a big chunk less than 1M. But the bigger question was is it possible to start the process now without the full 1M.

No, they require the full NRE before production begins.

I suppose with today's 10% BTC dip, we are now getting further away from the NRE...

+1. There is a huge difference in price between NRE costs of 90nm (~$100k), 45nm (~$400k) and 28nm (~$1M). At the current market rate and machine sales the $1M is very very near allowing ActM to jump immediately to 28nm.

O yes of course, I was referring to the shares value in fiat (I guess they too go towards the NRE or am I mistaken?)

They are ofc, but the current amount of shares being sold already has that into consideration, as if they were the only funding path. Depending on pre-orders, not all of them need to be sold to reach $1M total.

Ok. I just assumed that Ken hadn't had time to exchanged BTC value of all shares to fiat, hence loosing 10% following today's dip. I assumed so because I was under the impression it takes some time to retrieve BTC from BTCT assets (although I might be wrong... just thought I read that somewhere).

Or maybe he did, and sold 15k of btc on MtGox  Grin
