Don't be naive

Just because you don't see massive spikes, does not mean it's not a botnet. He can easily have so many infected throughout the country that it won't fluctuate as much.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25653664
so wouldn't the 'botnet' hashrate have a diurnal flux when people in the country went to sleep and shut off their many, infected computers?

Not as others wake up. We're talking about 500mhash.
If he is doing a very low intensity as to not draw attention to UI lag, lets assume 10-15khash per machine...you can see how many machines were talking about spread over the country.

I'm sorry but this is just a much more likely scenario, that is already proving to happen, versus a company testing new secret half million $ asic mining farms on a public pool.

most of the country does go to sleep when the sun goes down.  it happens in, well all countries, really.  most people who don't know they're mining don't keep their computer on 24 hours a day.  they live normal lives and turn off their electronics at night.

I'm sorry but this is just a much more likely scenario, that is already proving to happen, versus a company testing new secret half million $ asic mining farms on a public pool.
secret?

the asics were announced at a beijing conference on december 8th.  someone 5 pages ago posted links to show the powerpoint presentation and a link to a discussion on production and the parameters of the chip.

there's absolutely nothing secret about this.  it just happened to be written in Chinese.

you don't see spikes because the frontend updates slow but at that growth rate I can only presume it's a botnet and it gets more infected every day. shit that nigga has like 11k bitcoins that's roughly 10 mil Smiley)

1) h2o did say that they are beta and could go down anytime until they are considered out of beta.

2) it's working fine for me.

It's not impossible for someone to be mining at 500 mh/s - there are a lot of big rigs out there with some going up to a massive scale. Many of them are ex-bitcoin which miners are starting to switch back on again under Scrypt since the price went up.

See the following for examples, particularly the industrial scale rigs: http://bitcoinexaminer.org/20-awesome-litecoin-mining-rigs/

I seriously doubt this is a botnet - it's hash rate is just too stable for it to be that. That said, H2o might be able to put this speculation to rest  if he has the ability to check and confirm if traffic is coming to the pool from just a small range of similar IP addresses - implying a dedicated miner - or from a large random range of addresses spread out around the world which would suggest a botnet.

Proud family man, futurist and all-round Bitcoin fanatic! Smiley

I believe the person from the 500mhs address posted earlier in this thread saying they had 2,000mhs, but only point 500 max to this pool, that they are from china, and they have a partner who doesn't want anything to do with middlecoin

could be someone with thick pocket books and went out and bought 100s of gpus i know someone personaly that bought 20 290x cards he has contacts at saphire and got them at wholesale they get what 900kh so 20 would put out about 18000kh give or take.  Back in the btc craze i seen people take out loans on their houses to buy huge gpu farms so this is not really new.

I'm getting ever so slightly uncomfortable with that growing pile of unexchanged coins towering above my payouts. I'd like to get what I mined fairly swiftly not with several days delay. The value just starts to get higher than what I trust complete strangers with in the crypto universe.

well thats what you get with auto switching pools he cant dump all of some coins at the same time or it will flood the market usualy it goes down thru out the day first time in the 2 weeks i mined here i saw it stay so high for so long but i have earned more daily then i was mining ltc befor.

Could that big miner be another pool that acts as a go-between to middlecoin?

"Hey, I have this great multicoin-switching-straight-to-btc pool that is NOT middlecoin, come mine here!"

Something for tealovers perhaps Wink

A couple of friends were asking me about how Middlecoin actually works and since I'm really tired of reading the posts with questions about design, profitability and all other information regarding Middlecoin I've put up an updated FAQ (shit, I'm doing h2o's work, will I get more coins? Wink ). You can see it here: http://middlecoin.kobal.org

All the newbies: PLEASE, read this document!

h20: I know you are probably in some jacuzzi for the whole day or maybe basking on some tropical island with your's $3000 per day (I'm not envy, you deserve it) ... but anyway, could you PLEASE, PLEASE, update your FAQ with this one? And could you PLEASE, PLEASE put it on top of your page (or even better, incorporate this design: http://rickardandersson.github.io/middlecoin)? THANK YOU!

You might want to mention in the faq, the even if two miners have the same blue/green balances and the same hashing power and are on the same server, they might still not get the same payout because the composition of their blue/green balances might contain different altcoin combinations. That was an a-ha moment for me..

Also, the 'rejected' rate may be higher than in other pools.

Maybe, the faq could be made into a wiki? Then others can update it when new insights come up in this mega-thread.

Not liking the excessive unexchanged total at all. I hope this amount will not be used to bump up totals for the low payout days, something like a buffer to play with.

Yep, I've talked to people who have over 120 GPUs. Mostly 7970s, 280xs and 290xs
