Cryptsy has QRK creeping up.  To .000138 now.  Maybe the new bottom is .00011.

Anyway, I mine on several CPUs using the "Legacy" minerd for win 6 64 bit found in the depths of this thread.  I don't have any recent machines, but I'll give you an idea of my hashrates:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 be:  121.43 khash/s  times 4, of course

Intel Xeon X3430 at 2.4 Ghz: 87.43 khash/s times 4

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 at 2.33Ghz : 71.28 khash/s times 2

AMD Phenom II x4 905:  89.45 khash/s  times 4

I use pool with http://www.coinmine.pl/qrk/ and I am averaging about 24 QRK/day since the reward was halved to 16.

Not too great, but steady.  I welcome recommendations for improvement.

Juan

damn i only get 60 khashes/s per core on my phenom II x4
are you using this? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260031.msg2948566#msg2948566

Nope, my is the one where they upped the proggies to sourceforge and there were several versions including: i7, Bulldozer, AMD, etc. and Legacy.  Sorry, I can't remember the exact name.  BTW, that deneb chip, 965 runs real hot 60-62 C when it is hashing.  I may be burning it up, don't know!

That link has been active for over a week. The person who twittered it doesn't give any support for his position other than mentioning it will happen soon. It could be old news that he is reporting and hoping to influence people toward qrk.

Your thousands of coins don't get succesfully transferred to an exchange and always get stuck? That's probably because you have too many small amounts of QRK in your wallet, which you can't send in one big transaction, you'll have to do many small. Open the debug window and type: sendtoaddress QbrKoVbkqFem4KVPaTVZhotw4Dhd1RQBuc 500 (change to your address if you want to  Cheesy, 500 is the amount of coins)
After pressing enter immediately press arrow up and enter again a few times, this is a lot faster than doing the transactions manually in the Qt window. If the coins did not get through run quarkcoin-qt.exe -salvagewallet to save the coins and try a smaller transaction. A transaction can contain up to 160 prior transactions, so if you got many p2pool transactions of 0.1 qrk you could send up to 16 QRK at a time.

So suppose I have to manage a lot of transactions from a lot of addresses, this could be very annoying on the long-term no ? If there is a need to "reset" the wallet or making a script that involves splitting a transaction into a smaller chunk ?

Or it's just if A send to B, and there's less than 160 different "A" address, B would only send balance / sum(different A) ?
I don't really get this point... Is it really useful in the process ? Is there any way to get rid of that ? Shocked

This article on "der freitag" (german openminded newspaper with left tendency) explains on a medium-difficault/still easy enough level what cryptocurrency is and what are the advantages of Quark. Also explains the concerns regarding Quark. Its not advertisment but its fair and transparent journalism giving people who are interested the chance to take part...hope those who allready can read it, will like it.

translator into english still searched.

Let me tell you I am not holding any Quark, if I had I would have already sold, yes, call me weak hands and butthurt. But this doesn't make my arguments less valid, having said that, with 0.5% inflation there is not much left to the miners. And let me remind you that miners keep a coin alive.

Also let me laugh at the statement that Quarkcoin is a better currency than BTC because the price will stabilize sooner. Look at the infrastructure around BTC and then turn your head to QRK and tell me how people is going to invest in a coin that gives no future to miners ?

Bitcoin is pump and dump. It's not a currency, it's a commodity. Besides, mining has to end for Bitcoins also. All your arguments are completely invalid.

Stability in prices -- Cryptocurrencies are not commodities. It's designed to be spent and a medium to receive payments from. If a cryptocurrency is not that, it's basically a pump and dump scheme.
Actually if you see for a fair cryptocurrency which is not seen as an investment, there should be a little bit inflation, cause that way people will not hold on to it like investment; instead they'll use it to buy investments like shares and gold -- which is something to be seen as an investment.

Limited coins supply is not that good for stability, neither is long term mining of coins.
The lost coins will increase the prices (instability in prices -- not desired; this'll happen cause Bitcoins are more rare). People will continue to loose they same way they continue to loose data.

Coins with limited but long term supply by mining (like for 6 years or a above) will have deflation for a long time (till all coins have been mined). Will people wait for this much time for it's prices to stabilize? Or will they quit for their national currency? The prices will increase cause of it's popularity + lost coins, and decrease cause of mining activity; agreed these variables will stabilize it's prices for the decade while it's being mined, but there're just too many variables involved; it's like shares, there's a risk from what news comes about the cryptocurrency, and then there's the mining. If it's good news, mining will help stabilize prices, if it's bad then prices will crash faster than expected.

The currency should try to reduce the factors it's price depends on in the technical front so as to reduce the variables on which it's price depends on.

External factors will always vary the price of any cryptocurrency regardless of the technicals. External factors also includes initial demands of a new coin.

Limited mining/inflation is ideal.
Mining should not die; it should be done to recover from lost coins. After all coins have been mined (in a relatively short period of time), the coins made per unit time should be enough to maintain the prices.
