Should I be CPU mining this or GPU mining.  Little confused.  Since there is a GPU miner out already wouldn't CPU be unprofitable ?

where is the gpu miner for qrk?  I apparently missed it. I'd love to gpu mine these bad boys

Made a few changes: 24 Million to 21 Million Bitcoins, also added the 6 Hashing Functions, if you notice anything else incorrect or something needs to be added let me know. Once the new logo and slogan are chosen, I'll add those to the graphic. Smiley

You should remove the CPU Mining from that picture, it only allows non believers to bring up that "premine" bullshit and its not really a big plus.

After how much time of mining in a P2Pool should you receive Quarks into your Quark QT Wallet?

AMD FX-8120 8 cores processor
2 kh/s

Thanks! I updated the list.

AMD FX-8120 8 cores processor
2 kh/s

I believe you meant to say 2000 kh/s?

:-)

Hi!

Sorry, no, I meant 2 kh/s!!

That was before I actually mined any QRK though, I tested out my CPU with a scrypt coin and was getting 2 kh/s stable, so I thought I'd get the same result with QRK.

For QRK, the 8 core CPU gets 505 kh/s.

I was able to find about 3 shares after 3 minutes of mining. I have no idea if I got anything at all from that, the pool mining apparatus was unlike any other pool I've tried, instead of signing up on the website and installing a worker, I simply gave them my address instead, which wasn't a very good way of tracking earnings.

While doing the 3 minute mining, I read up a bit more on Qrkcoin and found out that there's roughly .004% coins (as of this writing) of the total coins left to mine. So I thought, what's the point? Then I stopped mining.

Ok, I see.

Well, I get average of 1.5 MH/s with my "bulldozer", sometimes peaking at 2 MH/s...

but wait, I think my cpu is actually a AMD 8-core vishera (piledriver) 4 Ghz., the successor of the bulldozer. So its not "exactly" the bulldozer cpu model.
But I use it with the bulldozer miner, and it works great and very stable, been running it for some days now without any problems.
(problems only caused by the mining pool)

can someone explain why quark is more "secure" than bitcoin.  Please don just quote "6 hashes, etc blah blah" please elaborate on the weakness in bitcoin addressed by these 6 hashes.

Hashing algorithm is a mathematical procedure keeping your wallet and all transactions safe. Bitcoin uses SHA-2, so if SHA-2 is cracked some day, Bitcoin will be destroyed since anyone can steal money from your wallet, anyone can arbitrarily add money to his/her own wallet, etc. Quark uses six different hashing algorithms (they were six candidates of NIST hash function competition for next generation SHA-3 algorithm in 2007), so if you want to crack Quark, you must crack all of the six. Moreover, these six algorithms (at least a few of them) are considered to be superior to SHA-2 in academia; for instance, Keccak, is selected as the next generation SHA-3 algorithm by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). These two factors make Quark very very secure.

first off tell me who is saying it is "more Secure" - ?

the above just quotes that it has 6 functions against the single SHA256

Bill only had concerns around that fact that the NSA designed SHA256  ( that's a personal issue)

no where is it officially stated that Quark is "more Secure" than Bitcoin .

i personally never banter this - i have no idea which is technically "more secure"  i know the market perceives both as "secure" -

this is awesome - they are Buying up the Quark off exchange likely don't forget there are a few people walking around with millions of LTC and BTC - so they are offering to buy Quark off exchange overpriced to dump it on our investors at a low price -

this is the free market at work - soon when all the volume of Quark has been transacted though a,  ha ha,  Single exchange - who can try to say  "its all held by the insiders"  - ha ha

that sell order will go the same way as the others - into the pockets of our investors , and we thank you .

So the way i see it... only way to get to the quark market is by enriching early miners and buying from them.. since its mostly mined out...

CPU mining is flawed - botnets and huge vpn networks.

What initiative is there for new people to even bother with a coin thats mined out  by perhaps 100-200 people? Feels like a get rich scheme.

Bitcoin GHAS renting and 0% fee stratum mining.

But every year there are 1 million new QRK Coins to be made, don't forget that.
So how is this "mined out"?

99% is as good as mined out. you may be able to make a few quarks with a botnet or large vpn - but the power costs  wont even remotely be close to what you gain.
Which means   hoarders of 100-s of millions are simply enriched with all the new users.

You still can mine several coins daily with cpu like i5 i7.
And according to your way of thinking, "What initiative is there for new people" due to Bitcoin? You can not mine even one in a month with best possible PC on the market. You can only buy it. Right now you can mine and buy Quarks. I suggest you do both if you would like to have some.
