We really cant say if the eth will overtake btc next month or what so ever. Right now the price of both candidates which is eth and btc are the same their both at the lowest as of now. I guess we really cant tell what will be the future, and still bitcoin is number one , its the king of all coins

As we all know ETH is the nearest competitor of bitcoin BTC infact ETH is next to BTC. Bitcoin is the base of all altcoins in other words BTC is the father of all crytos. When BTC dump ETH also dump but when ETH dump bitcoin will not be touch it will still stay on its stable price. So, in other words what will happen to BTC affects to ETH but ETH could not affect BTC. ETH could not overtake BTC.

I don't agree that. I still believe Bitcoin is the number 1 cryptocurrency and no coin can replace that. The Bitcoin is still the father of all crypto. Eth is only at the back of BTC.

Is it not happening because Ether's supply is not capped like Bitcoin? Considering the demand fueled by ICOs such as EOS.io, that is only taking ETH, one would expect the price of Ether to go up faster, no?

I have to totally disagree with you here. Ethereum is the best alt coin for me aswell and i really support it but we have to be realistic here. Chances of bitcoin getting overtaken by any coin is zero. I really appreciate how ethereum helping the crypto community but the blockchain tech is designed to be centered by bitcoin.

According to my speculation ethereum can not take over the position of bitcoin as a benchmark price of altcoin, because to reach the current bitcoin price takes years. Although the price of ethereum rises high, bitcoin prices will also rise beyond the price of ethereum, all because of differences in demand.
