I think to rival the bitcoin this year ethereum is probably still 25% of its appraisal, although it is clear at this point that bitcoin prices are shaken and ethereum prices remain stable even after they have fallen back. Ether is a great Altcoin with a good  purpose! At this moment the value of ether is amazing because the price of it is stable.

Its hard to predict that Ether will overtake Bitcoin in next year as number one currency in cryptos world. Maybe right now ether have a good value while bitcoin experienced price fluctuation it is not necessary that ether will dethrone bitcoin. If you monitor the movement of price value of all cryptos its dependent on the bitcoin value. Right now, once the bitcoin dump its value, most of crytos or coin are followed as same in bitcoin price fluctuation even ether is the same. That's why it is hard to overtake bitcoin by ether.
