No actually, Because when bitcoin goes down, not the all altcoin dropped, there are some like ETH, LTC which shows good growth even after the huge drop in bitcoin. I see ETH and LTC as best altcoin right now.

Currently the buying and selling pressure of most altcoins and their market dominance depends on the market leader Bitcoin. If a wallstreet whale one day decides to dump majority of their Bitcoin holdings then you can expect a price drop. Looking at the weak hands tend to assume that the crypto market has lost a significant amount of market capital so they tend to short their altcoins as well. But today as you can see the markets have already corrected and rebound by a certain percentage which shows that all of these are temporary. Suddenly if some large whale adds a large buy wall then the price will increase and people will convert a certain percentage of it into altcoins.

Also, it could be very much possible that sometime in the future an altcoin could closely compete with Bitcoin and unless Bitcoin has its competing feature that could add value to it, it may struggle to compete. It's all a matter of time.

In my opinion, without bitcoin, there is no future for altcoin. Most of the altcoin will be 0, which is a sad thing, but can be expected.

First of all,its hardly not possible now for bitcoin price to crash to very low price as it continuously has a huge buy wall.We all know well that all the altcoins are priced in bitcoin value. So their price is inter related with bitcoin price.

Whenever a bitcoin rally occurs, all the altcoins would start bleeding meaning that their prices would start to fall low. This is mainly because most of the altcoin holders would sell their altcoins to buy bitcoins on seeing its price increasing. So,it would make altcoins price to fall more.

On the other hand, when bitcoin price starts to fall, most of its holders would sell bitcoins this time and would start buying altcoins which would lead to increase in altcoins prices.

his is the regular phenomenon which we could see often in crypto market.

You are completely right, i dont know why a lot of people doesnt agree with you, because this is the pure truth.

I am thinking that if Bitcoin ever crashes, I mean completely drops to a very low value and when doesn't increase anymore. Then the altcoins are going to drop too and won't have a high value anymore too,

If bitcoin dies = everything dies too, it is not because i am being skeptical, but this is the real fucking truth, just ask this to anyone who has a little bit knowledge about cryptos.

He will tell you the same, it is like saying that if Euro and US dollar dies, the whole economy would be fine, do you see it ? it makes no sense at all.

I dont think all altcoins go down when bitcoin is down, because there are altcoins goes high when bitcoin is down, and besides this drop down of price of bitcoin is because of the holiday season that some investors or holders withdrawing its money but after this everthing goes up again.

Altcoins rely on bitcoin since most of the time it is valued to btc for altcoins to do well for themselves without bitcoin is still to be seen. I'm sure we will see a altcoin rise to the same point as bitcoin but time will tell.

i think altcoins will survive with or without bitcoin as bitcoin is only for nothing special. i would rather save eth or dash as it has more potential.

Well, bitcoin dropping its value is just normal. Its just how it is but it doesn't mean that if btc vanished all the altcoins will also die. If you can notice, etherium is gaining popularity next to btc. So, if it banished it might be replaced by an altcoin.

It is true that the other altcoin values dropped too, but it won't always be like that I think. If bitcoin drops I think people will shift their bitcoins to some other altcoin , for example ethereum, which is pretty well suited for long term investments. If bitcoin dies due to alot of countries banning it or something then there is a huge chance that people lose their hope on cryptocurrencies. But if it is undertaken by some other cryptocurrency, people would still want to invest in cryptos.

All the ALT. Coins really affected when bitcoin dump down. But it's dosen't mean without bitcoin ALT. Coins not survive. After bitcointhere are some coins like Ethereum, Lite and Dash take place after bitcoin. So many ALT.  Coins get popularity.

Hello!

With the recent decrease in value of Bitcoin, the value of almost all the altcoins dropped too.
Now BTC is rising again and so are the altcoins.

I am thinking that if Bitcoin ever crashes, I mean completely drops to a very low value and when doesn't increase anymore.
Then the altcoins are going to drop too and won't have a high value anymore too, which means the cryptocurrency world will die.

Is my statement just nonsense or can it be correct?

I'm curious of what you all think will happen to the altcoins if BTC crashes for real.

I think that your statement is correct in the current market, all that it shows is how overvalued bitcoin is or undervalued altcoins are. Bitcoin is considered to be the same as cryptocurrencies for many people and they will feel that if bitcoin fails there is no hope for other currencies. In time the usefulness of other coins will come to ahead and this misconception can be broken but until that happens the whole cryptocurrency market is relying on bitcoin remaining strong.

Since all of the alt coin market is dependent on bitcoin ,when there is a crash in price of bitcoin, the price of alt coin also goes down, unless there is some specific change in the market where the crypto market is going to doomed ,i do not see a situation where that scenario happens, good alt coins with good innovative ideas will thrive even if bitcoin vanishes. I think there is a risk that most of the altcoins will not exist anymore. If bitcoin is dead, then it seems to me that Ethereum will remain, as a real alternative to any bitcoins (bitcoin, bitcoin cash, etc.). Of course, this is only an assumption.

I think even ethereum wouldn't survive, especially if it happened in the immediate future. If it happens in a few years then people may be better educated on cryptocurrencies and their benefits but right now I think nothing would survive without bitcoin.
