There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

There is no coinex support, you have most likely lost your funds. The site is a scam and you are a victim like the rest of us.

Any numbers on how many BTC was lost. Someone got a summary of the downfall of coinex for me?

Looks like the scam site coinex.pw has finally been taken down.

No more scamming people with fake deposits and fake withdraws.

190.93.241.217 came up as one, but cloudflare doesnt allow direct IP access, so no more trading or even be able to grab the balances/history as record for those that didnt know about this in advance, should any moves be made in future with claims against it :\
Getting the domain suspended was completely pointless and now only further helps erundook and captainfuture get away with it.

I think that suspending the domain was a bad move.

You can actually still access it using a simple trick.
If you're using Windows, simply open up c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file in your notepad and add the following line at the end of the file, save and you're done:

190.93.241.217 coinex.pw

In case the file cannot be saved after modification, you need to open notepad as administrator.

Anybody knows anything about the status? Owners given up or...?

Great, people who know what they're doing can access it.

Now new victims won't blunder into the site and deposit funds, as has been happening for months.  No new victims of Coinex, please.

Not at all.

The scam site was collecting coins from new users on a daily basis and still hosting a chat laden with password stealing links.

How long should the site be accessible and stealing other people's money/passwords and for what purpose?

Doesn't matter if you can't see your balances now. How much they owe you means nothing because your never getting anything more back again ever anyways. He has no assets. There is already enough evidence of fraud. There is NOTHING to be gained at all by leaving the accessible beyond letting more innocent people get screwed over. Unless you've got a bad case of sour grapes and are upset that other people won't get screwed over too, there is no reason for the site to be up.

CoinEx has taken all of your coins and it is highly unlikely that you will ever get them back.

The Uno community identified and tracked the Coinex Uno wallet (all coins were stored in a single large wallet at Coinex). The UNO was transferred from Coinex to a wallet at Cryptsy **after** the alleged "hack" was announced.  About 6-7000 Uno was dumped on Cryptsy's market, keeping the price of Uno artificially low.  Here is more about what we found.

I can only assume other coins on CoinEx experienced the same fate.

Sorry but your coins on CoinEx are long gone.
