Phil that is just not true. My power cost is ~$0.12 kwh and I have built spreadsheets in the past for every single algo and power %, and no matter what the out is always more money by running at 100% or higher power usage.
Interesting points. I compared hash power on my 4 card gtx 1060 rig and these were the results: https://imgur.com/a/Ol29BI tried at different TDP settings and the hashrate on equihash(EWBF) only started dropping after going below 90%. I just have 1060 rigs and I compared hash power only on equihash at different TDP settings, so I can only talk for this. Different miners+gpus+algos of course have different but probably very interesting results.

No problem Sir..., take your time, appreciate the quick feedback already, I just don't want to take any risk with the basic PDU 9560 because I'll have no way of monitoring my usage in wattage. And since I'm expanding my operations gradually, smaller home farm going in my former office. I'm still sticking with the 4U case and will be sticking them into the 42U, hopefully I can mount at least 8 4U case in there. All 4U case are fitted with 7 GPU's; the scarcity in GPU's have slowed me down as I'm not going to pay over MSRP for them. Got all my Ethash Algo build done already with RX570s now trying to pick up a lot of Nvidia cards. For Veteran miners, will anyone of you support 8 1060 4U case build over 7 1070's in the same build. I do understand that with the 1070, they are bulkier and the Rosewill L4500 4U case might not fit 7 of those. To add, I also like to keep about 3/4 to 1/2 inch space between each GPU in the case to allow room for better air circulation, coupled with the 3700rpm 153cfm Delta fans upfront for intake and 1500rpm 82cfm AeroCool Sharkfin fans right behind the GPUs to help exhaust the all the way back, where I left the 2 80mm fans to help exhaust stale hot air that might hover around the CPU. Any advice with this setup would be appreciate as I'm not familiar with Nvidia cards but being learning a lot from all Philipma's thread. I'm scared I might not be able to fit up to 20 1070's or more on one 30A breaker, which should be 5760 Watts. Hence why I'm looking at the 1060's as because my goal is to get the best Sols/Wattage per rig. Very low maintenance, ever since I added automatic restart scripts on a 24 hour interval and watchdog scripts to restart and log automatically whenever it notices 0% GPU use or network disconnection. I take a little hit while it restarts though.
Care to share more about these scripts? I'd find that very helpful. Thanks! I have a script called autoexec.cmd start on logon using the Task Scheduler. Autoexec.cmd is a little take on the good times of the past. It will start the miner program and watchdog. I choose the miner program I want to use by commenting out the others using the REM command. After it has started the miner, it will run C:\Tools\watchdog.cmd which will start monitoring that the system is on the network and the GPU's are doing meaningful work. The Autoexec.cmd script will then hibernate (but still stay running) for 24 hours before it restarts the system. All this while watchdog is on another command line session monitoring the system. <snip> As long as we are sharing scripts, here is what I use to solve "hash drop" on an 8 Vega rig running Cast (not XMR). All credit goes to the Jericho Jones/CircusDad/StellarX88. I have not encountered BSODs with this rig, but hash drop is common and occurs on average about once or twice per day. The script monitors for that drop (based on whatever custom value you input) and restarts the process. I really appreciate your feedback and guidance always. So I see you talked about the 1080ti's, did you just use them as a reference for capacity to wattage calculation. Though, I know most, if not all of your GPU rigs are now 1080ti waterblock. You run a bigger farm and have been doing this for years.Right now, I'm interested in the best Sol to Wattage ratio and also maximizing my budget. I have only been doing this for 8 months now and everything is paid for with savings so far, so I want to be careful. With 20 1080ti at 200 watt TDP, that's running at 100% and total 4000watt and 500watt overhead for Mobo, CPU, Risers and other components in a rig, like you said 4500watt which still give me room for another rig that's about 1100watt in total, assuming my calculation is right. 24A x 240V = 5760. Tried to pick up the Ebay linked products but the actual PDU was gone but search and found the same model, with the extension bar that's still below $100 without considering shipping or Tax. But, I don't think I would be needing an extension, why did you recommend that? Thank you so much for taking time to respond, very well appreciated.

If your psu are 240 volt and use c19 to c20 you can do four of them . Each one can pull 1350 watts no issue.
So a eight card 1070 rig set to 120 watts a card will pull 1050 watts. Using 4200. That is 32 1070 set to 80% tdp.
No extension bar limits you to four psus but if you set to 120 watts you are all good
If you push to 135 watts or 90% for each card
It is 1170 a rig. That is 4680 watts
Stupid question, In both your previous post, your calculation did target 5400Watts almost and why is that so? I know with a 30A is derated 24A to avoid overloading the socket, hence why people opt for the 240V to create room for the maximum amount of rigs or GPU's. Please kindly clarify any information I might have misunderstood. So are you implying that I can't use all the available wattage on the 24A PDU, because on a 30A circuit the 24A PDU is derated already to give room for the 80% max load on the circuit. I may be wrong 100%, I'm just trying to learn about as much as a can when it comes to Mining and its best electrical practices. On a side note, I found a similar PDU with 6 C19 outlet, where each bank of 2 outlet can support up to 13A. The longer this blood bath lasts the worse it gets for idiots who paid $900 for a 1070 and $700 for 580s 🤦🏿♂️ Or $1300+ for a GTX 1080 Ti.... I sort of feel bad for them, but mostly for their families in the cases of people maxing out credit cards or taking loans thinking they could get rich quick without taking a peak at how history repeats itself over and over. Or... wonder if over-priced GPU purchases are the next thing this myopic banks are going to "protect" their customers from by banning their purchase using credit lol! The only ones i've seen stick available for more than 1-2 minutes are the $730-ish 1070ti's that came in at B&H. Sorry jokers, Im not paying nearly 50% above retail from a MF'ing retailer lol! but clearly a lot of people are. Dare I say those cards will never ROI? Or maybe in 1+ years IF the market really skyrockets again... a lot of ifs.

Got my 1050 and 1050 ti "experiment" cards in today.
I'm NOT impressed.
EVGA 1050 single-fan 2GB, EVGA 1050 SC single-fan 2GB, EVGA 1050 ti single fan 4GB.
ALL of the cards have a hard-coded TDP limit at 52.5 watts, they will not LET you go lower at all - so 70% is the minimum, which doesn't leave a lot of room for tuning.
Performance on the SC vs the non-SC 1050 models was identical to within measurement limits, EXCEPT the SC model would not allow as high of an overclock.
On ZEC, the best efficiency was about 2.7 watts on the 1050 ti, 2.5 on the 1050 cards. Efficiency was pretty much FLAT between 70% and 80%, then dropped off some a little above that. Max hashrate was about 153 on the 1050 cards, 175ish on the 1050 ti, dropping about 25 hash on all 3 at 70% TDP.
No memory setting I tried, from -500 (which CRASHED the ti and the SC) to +500, had ANY noticeable effect on ZEC hashrate at all. ALL 3 cards liked as much core overclock as I could feed them, but that was only about +100 on the SC and +200 on the other two cards.
On a hash/$ basis the 1050 is comparable to any other GTX 10xx card I've worked with, the 1050 ti bit worse than even the 1080 ti - and that's comparing to pricing in October/November before the shortages hit. 1050 would be a tolerable entry-level ZEC card if your electric cost isn't a factor or you have VERY cheap electric. On a hash/watt basis they are VERY POOR.
On the UP side, none of these models have a 6-pin PCI-E connector, so if you have a MB with a TON of slots like the B250 Mining Expert you could cram a BUNCH of these cards in one rig with a single not-very-large power supply.
Cooling was fair, but not as good as my bigger cards EXCEPT the blower models, they're a bit better than the ASUS cards and a LOT better than the MSI "Turbo", but they were fairly close on temps to my EVGA 2-fan models. They do NOT like being crammed on top of each other with no space though, 52.5 watt was hitting 82C on the one card I tried that way. One slot between them empty was tolerable - they MIGHT cool well enough to be viable on the later Onda motherboards.
The 1050 ti on ETH was pulling a little over 13.3 Mhash - TDP didn't matter, core clock didn't matter, +500 memory clock DID matter (it was mid-12s at stock clocks). Card only would use 62-63 watts when TDP was set to 75. 13.3 Mhash doesn't compare well on hash/watt vs one of my 1070 cards that manages 29 at 90.
If high-end Polaris pricing was SANE, this card would be a very poor choice for ETH mining on both a hash/watt and a hash/$ basis. Ditto vs the 1070 on hash/watt though it would be somewhat close on hash/$. At current pricing, it might be TOLERABLE as an entry-level card, with the same "no PCI-E power needed" advantage mentioned above, but I still can't really recommend them other than "you can GET them, better cards are bloody near impossible to get".
I always love reading your analysis on GPU's, helped me out a lot with my first 1070ti rig, but always good solid info across the board. sorry those 50ti's weren't too impressive. I've been tempted to test some lower end cards but have been pretty good and sticking to those with 8GB memory for "future proofing". The exception being a couple of MSI 570 4GB , but I am trying to complete that rig with the 8GB versions (have 2 already) when they become available then eventually replace the 4GB ones... so really don't want more than maybe 2-3 max on that 7-8 card rig. Will get that up and running and well as my 2nd 1070ti rig after the electrician comes out next week and drops my 4 new 20-amp outlets.

So here goes. 220 to 242 is the range of most 240 services. I am being realistic and trying to keep you safe. I have found running at 23-25 amps causes shut downs. Why simple if you are pulling 23 amps at 240 volts what is your watts? About 5520. So what happens if volts sag to 220? Amps rise to about 25.1. And you pop the master breaker since it is 24 amps. As for the six plug pdu IIRC. It is a 3 phase and not good for you . I picked one I know will work and I gave you safe settings for it. Are you looking to set your cards to 100% tdp of 150 watts. 8 per rig = 1200 add 100 is 1300 x 4 is 5200 I would not set this way . Tell me your cards again and exact make. Model along with how many you have.

I just sold it, so no more testing is possible, but below are the results from each of the algos I tried, and in each case actual clocks reported by MSI AB are given. The core clock was never stable, so it's an "eyeball average," but mem clock usually was, and I didn't mess with power limit at all because power usage reporting is broken in the 1050 Ti, from what I understand. Neoscrypt - 460 kH/s ~1770 core; 3700 mem; ccminer-klaust 8.19 Equihash - 190 Sols/s ~1835 core; 3800 mem; dstm 0.5.7 Ethash - 13.4 Mh/s ~1885 core*; 3800 mem; claymore dual 10.5 (* - at that time I had not yet learned that core clock doesn't matter with Ethash) Lyra2RE2 - 14.8 Mh/s ~1860 core; 3800 mem; vertminer 1.0 So, by no means an outstanding performer, but I felt it was decent enough at Equihash and Lyra2RE2 that it would be compelling at the original MSRP of $140 or so; at the current retail price of $230US or a used price on eBay of $180+, however, it makes absolutely no sense to own, much less buy new, so I sold it. But continuing on the, "let's play with cheap cards because buying anything else is madness right now," theme, I've picked up a couple of 2GB RX 560's and have so far just been tinkering with Cryptonight. I've got them up to a very stable 460 H/s each which is pretty respectable if the price is $150 or less. That's about the same hashrate as a Ryzen 5 1600 with a "tweaked-to-within-a-gnat's-hair" xmr-stak.

give it a few more weeks, I warned all those fools paying tripple retail price it was a bad idea few people listened. The longer this blood bath lasts the worse it gets for idiots who paid $900 for a 1070 and $700 for 580s 🤦🏿♂️ Or $1300+ for a GTX 1080 Ti.... I sort of feel bad for them, but mostly for their families in the cases of people maxing out credit cards or taking loans thinking they could get rich quick without taking a peak at how history repeats itself over and over. I blame all the utubers "How to make $15 a day mining on one gtx 1080 TI!! Print your own monies!" I am glad I did not buy the expensive GTX 1080Ti. I think I can buy them for below $800 in a few weeks. Keep dreaming lol... if this last huge drop wasn't enough to kill the GPU gouging market, not sure it will end any time soon... and overall market if already back up about 40% from the bottom a few days ago. Yes, there is more supply hitting the market now but even the ones that are "only" marked up $100-$150 (newegg & amazon) are gone instantly. The only ones i've seen stick available for more than 1-2 minutes are the $730-ish 1070ti's that came in at B&H. Sorry jokers, Im not paying nearly 50% above retail from a MF'ing retailer lol! but clearly a lot of people are. Dare I say those cards will never ROI? Or maybe in 1+ years IF the market really skyrockets again... a lot of ifs. yeah $550 is my max for a 1070 or 107ti , $350 max for an RX 580 8GB until prices drop to those levels ill just hold my coins and wait for the next pump I found some decent fully built gaming deals. 2 card rx 580 for 1313 plus tax 2 card 1080ti for 2200 plus tax both have i7 8700 thats still too high for me, plus Im stuck with gaming box ram and cpu etc Ill wait till volta is released and maybe have some friends pic up some cards locally for me

I sold off a few units with 2 1080ti's set in cases and using smos. I got 2k each I don't mind getting 2 for 2200 each for 200 bucks cost on each I get. an i7 8700 vs i3 7100 2 new 1080 ti's windows 10 vs smos 1 tb hdd vs usb stick 8gb ram vs 4gb ram new 1 year warranty vs 9 month old gear.. if you do the math a 1080ti is still worth more then 900 . if it earns 4 dollar a day and spends 200 watts it nets 3.50 a day x 300 days = 1050 . So if you buy a gaming rig and net 2100 in 300 days the rig has at least 900 value so I turn 2200 into 3000 in 10 months . But that is my model selling gently used gear at good prices. Like the s-9's I sold not marked upped like nuts. BTW still have more s-9s a two board and a three board left are left. the two board has a third board that died in about 1 month of use. the three board is older works well
