You guys should be using zeta.dsync.net.  By far the best pool site I've found so far and have had 0 issues.

I recommend this pool, when splitting hash between this pool and others to test, this pool always had a noticeable amount (close to 2x) more earned. Could be luck but it has been consistently better for a week now.

The OP says "160 million coins will be mined in around first year" we are already up to block 152,459
which is (80,640 * 1,000) + (71,819 * 500) = 116.74million does that sound right?

I don't understand why so many coins are mined in the first couple of months, what's the philosophy behind that?

Nice find!

As for the amount of coins mined, I think the philosophy is to bring the main supply of coins up as fast as possible and get them into circulation to have a stable "known" economy. After that the miners will have the incentive to continue mining by the small inflationary portion of coin generation.

“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”
“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”
“It is important to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.”

Yes you are correct. 75% of all coins will be mined at the next block halving, which is about 8000 blocks from now (about a week)

I believe the intention is to essentially create a currency from thin air. Like if a new government just printed a whole bunch of new money and said this is the new currency we are using. The idea being to create crypto currency capable of everyday transactions and ready to be mass distributed immediately. It destroys the initial value of the coin but if people adopt it and continue to mine for the 1 million inflation coins each year, its probably the most ready network for handling day to day transactions. Its fast and sha256 based (bitcoin confirmation is slow and sha256 is much more energy efficient than scrypt)

EDIT:  Or its a pure pump and dump coin. Who knows  Grin

wow Cool many blocks found last hour and 2 in 1 minute  Grin

Mining with 12 USB Block Erupters on an Ubuntu 13.04 server (running @ total 48W).

Strange thing is, most of the time it finds 2 or 3 block in 2 to 4 hours and after that nothing or it takes 8+ hours to find the next block. When I restart BFG miner I find block(s) rather fast again in the first hour(s) after that it takes hours and hours to find the next. Huh
